Abstract

The present invention provides a method for automated application-selective processing of data by a portable processor based terminal device and the portable processor based terminal device enabled to perform the aforementioned method. The data is receivable wirelessly from an external counterpart data provision entity. One or more content data is extracted from the wirelessly received data. Then it is checked whether an application, which is currently carried out on the portable processor based terminal device, is applicable or compatible with the one or more content data and in case a content data is applicable with the current running application, the content data is supplied to the application, which processed on the supplied content data accordingly.

Claims

1. Method for automated application-selective processing of data by a portable processor based terminal device, which data is receivable wireless from a data provision entity, said wireless received data including one or more content data, said method comprises:

extracting said one or more content data from said wireless received data;

determining whether an application currently carried out on said portable processor based terminal device is compatible with said one or more content data; and

supplying said compatible content data to said application for being processed therewith.

2. Method according to claim 1, comprising:

extracting one or more data records each comprising content data and an identifier, wherein said identifier is relateable to an application available on said portable processor based terminal device; and

determining whether said application currently carried out on said portable processor based terminal device is compatible with said one or more content data in accordance with said identifier.

3. Method according to claim 2, wherein said identifier is an identifier relating to a type of content of said content data or said identifier is an identifier relating to a predefined application compatible with said content data.

4. Method according to claim 2, comprising

retrieving an association information from a registration database in accordance with said identifier, wherein said registration database includes a plurality of association information about associations between identifiers and applications available on said portable processor based terminal device;

and

determining whether said application currently carried out on said portable processor based terminal device is compatible with said one or more content data in accordance with said association information.

5. Method according to claim 1, comprising:

displaying a selection of options, wherein said options relate to said one or more content data;

receiving a user-selection in accordance with said displayed selection;

initiating an application in accordance with said to said user-selection, wherein said application is compatible with said content data identified by said user-selection; and

supplying said content data to said initiated application for being processed therewith.

6. Method according to claim 5, wherein said displaying of said selection is performed:

in case said portable processor based terminal device is currently operating in idle mode;

or

in case said application currently carried out on said portable processor based terminal device is incompatible with said one or more content data.

7. Method according to claim 5, comprising:

receiving said data via a local wireless data communication link operable with a local wireless data interface;

or

receiving said data with the help of an identification reading device.

Computer program product for executing a method for automated application-selective processing of data by a portable processor based terminal device, comprising program code sections for carrying out the steps of claim 1, when said program is run on a computer, a microprocessor based device, a terminal, a network device, a mobile terminal, a portable consumer electronic device, or a mobile communication enabled terminal.

Computer program product for executing a method for automated application-selective processing of data by a portable processor based terminal device, comprising program code sections stored on a machine-readable medium for carrying out the steps of claim 1, when said program product is run on a computer, a microprocessor based device, a terminal, a network device, a mobile terminal, a portable consumer electronic device, or a mobile communication enabled terminal.

Software tool for automated context information based selective data provision for identification means, comprising program portions for carrying out the operations of claim 1, when said program is implemented in a computer program for being executed on a microprocessor based device, processing device, a terminal device, a network device, a mobile terminal, a portable consumer electronic device, or a mobile communication enabled terminal.

11. Computer data signal embodied in a carrier wave and representing instructions, which when executed by a processor cause the steps of claim 1 to be carried out.

12. Portable processor based terminal device allowing an automated application-selective processing of data, which is adapted to receive wireless data from a data provision entity, wherein said portable processor based terminal device comprises a dispatcher module, which is adapted

to extract one or more content data from said wireless received data;

to determine whether an application currently carried out on said portable processor based terminal device is compatible with said one or more content data; and

to supply said compatible content data to said application for being processed therewith.

13. Device according to claim 12, comprising said dispatcher module adapted

to extract one or more data records each comprising content data and an identifier, wherein said identifier is relateable to an application available on said portable processor based terminal device;

and

to determine whether said application currently carried out on said portable processor based terminal device is compatible with said one or more content data in accordance with said identifier.

14. Device according to claim 13, wherein said identifier is an identifier relating to a type of contents of said content data or said identifier is an identifier relating to a predefined application compatible with said content data.

15. Device according to claim 13, comprising:

a registration database, which includes a plurality of association information about associations between identifiers and applications available on said portable processor based terminal device;

wherein said dispatcher module is adapted

to retrieve said association information from said registration database in accordance said identifier; and

to determine whether said application currently carried out on said portable processor based terminal device is compatible with said one or more content data in accordance with said association information.

16. Device according to claim 12, wherein said dispatcher module is adapted:

to display a selection of options, wherein said options relate to said one or more content data;

to receive a user-selection in accordance with said displayed selection;

to initiate an application in accordance with said to said user-selection, wherein said application is compatible with said content data identified by said user-selection; and

to supply said content data to said initiated application for being processed therewith.

17. Device according to claim 12, wherein said dispatcher module is adapted to display said selection:

in case said portable processor based terminal device is currently operating in idle mode;

or

in case said application currently carried out on said portable processor based terminal device is incompatible with said one or more content data.

18. Device according to claim 12, comprising:

a local wireless data interface for receiving said data via a local wireless data communication link;

or

an identification reading device for receiving said data.
