Abstract

A broadhead includes a one piece elongated ferrule, with a plurality of slots through a central longitudinal axis of said ferrule, at least one of which has an open end, and one piece blades mounted in the slots. At least one of the blades includes a blade slot in it and the blades having openings through them. A securing member is inserted transversely through the central longitudinal axis of the ferrule and passes through said openings through the openings of the blades securing them within the ferrule.

Claims

1. A broadhead comprising a one piece elongated ferrule, with a plurality of slots through a central longitudinal axis of said ferrule, at least one of which slots having an open end, one piece blades mounted in said slots, at least one of said blades having a blade slot in it and both blades having openings through them, and a securing member inserted transversely through said central longitudinal axis of said ferrule, said securing member passing through said openings through said blades securing them within the ferrule.

2. The broadhead of claim 1 wherein said blades have complementarily interengaging blade slots in them.

3. The broadhead of claim 1 wherein said ferrule slots have an open upper end and a closed lower end, said slots defining four tip segments, at least two opposite of said tip segments having aligned holes in them to receive said securing members.

4. A broadhead comprising a one piece elongated ferrule, with a plurality of slots through the central axis of said ferrule, said slots having an open upper end and a closed lower end, one piece blades mounted in said slots, multiple securing members inserted transversely through the central axis of said ferrule, said multiple securing members passing through openings in said blades securing them within said ferrule.

A broadhead comprising a one piece elongated ferrule with a center axis, said ferrule having a tip and a monolithic body with two slots transversely through it and through said center axis, said slots being at substantially right angles to one another and opening through the tip portion of said ferrule forming four separate segments, two one-piece blades inserted into said slots between said segments, and at least one blade securing member inserted transversely through the central axis of said ferrule passing through openings in both blades securing them within the ferrule.

6. The broadhead of claim 5, wherein said securing member is a screw engaging opposite ferrule segments.

7. The broadhead of claim 5, where there are multiple securing members.

8. The broadhead of claim 7, wherein said multiple securing members are screws, one screw passing through openings in both blades engaging two opposite ferrule segments, and a second screw passing through openings in both blades and engaging the two remaining ferrule segments.

9. The broadhead of claim 5, wherein said one piece blades are of different lengths.

10. The broadhead of claim 5, wherein said slots are of different lengths.

11. The broadhead of claim 9, wherein one of said blades is positioned with a portion of its length above the other said blade.

12. The broadhead of claim 5, wherein said blade slots are the same length and said blades are of different lengths.

13. The broadhead of claim 5, wherein one blade has a blade slot opening through the center of an upper edge terminating short of a lower edge of said blade.

14. The broadhead of claim 5, wherein one blade has a blade slot opening through the center of a lower edge terminating short of an upper edge of said one blade.

15. The broadhead of claim 13, wherein said second blade is positioned inside the blade slot of said one blade.

16. The broadhead of claim 14, wherein a second blade is positioned inside the blade slot of said one blade.

17. A broadhead comprising a one piece elongated ferrule, with two slots through the central axis of said ferrule, one of said slots having an open upper end and a closed lower end, the other being an aperture closed at its upper and lower ends, two one-piece blades mounted in said slots, both blades having openings through them, and a securing member inserted transversely through the central axis of said ferrule, said securing member passing through said openings in said blades securing them within said ferrule.

18. The broadhead of claim 17 wherein said blades have complementarily interengaging slots in them.
