Abstract

A system and method of calculating athlete performance, may include receiving information relating to at least one date of performance of physical activity and generating a proposed training schedule, including one or more training sessions, corresponding to the at least one date of performance of physical activity. Further, the system and method may include receiving information relating to records of the athlete'"'"'s prior performances, and determining a performance model including predicted athlete performance based on the calculated training schedule and the prior performances.

Claims

1. A method of calculating athlete performance, comprising:

receiving information relating to an athlete'"'"'s goal performance;

receiving information relating to a proposed training schedule, including one or more training sessions, to prepare for the goal performance;

receiving information relating to records of the athlete'"'"'s prior performances; and

determining a performance model including predicted athlete performance based on the training schedule and the prior performances.

2. The method of computing physical performance according to claim 1, further comprising comparing the recorded values to the predicted levels of athlete performance, and modifying the performance model based on a result of the comparison.

3. The method of computing physical performance according to claim 1, further comprising comparing the recorded values to the predicted levels of athlete performance, and modifying the training schedule based on a result of the comparison.

4. The method of computing physical performance according to claim 1, further comprising calculating a training stress associated with the training schedule.

5. The method of computing physical performance according to claim 4, wherein the performance model is based on the training stress and one or more constants.

6. The method of computing physical performance according to claim 5, wherein the one or more constants represent fitness, fatigue, positive impulse decay, or negative impulse decay.

7. The method of computing physical performance according to claim 6, further comprising iteratively testing multiple values for the one or more constants until a difference between the predicted athlete performance levels and the actual athlete performance levels is within a predefined range.

8. The method of computing physical performance according to claim 7, wherein the brute force method is used to determine the constants.

9. The method of computing physical performance according to claim 9, further comprising using the performance model to assess the impact of the previous performance on the expected performance.

10. A method of determining athlete performance, comprising:

receiving information relating to a performance goal for physical activity;

determining a proposed training schedule relating to the performance goal, the proposed training schedule including a series of workouts to be performed by the athlete;

determining predicted results of training, including predicted results of the goal performance;

receiving information relating to a test performance;

comparing the predicted results of training with the information relating to the test performance; and

revising at least one of the training schedule and the performance goal based on the information relating to the test performance.

11. The method of determining athlete performance according to claim 10, wherein the step of determining a proposed training schedule is performed by a computing device.

12. The method of determining athlete performance according to claim 10, wherein the step of determining predicted results of training includes determining a level of physical stress associated with the training.

13. The method of determining athlete performance according to claim 10, further comprising receiving instructions for revising the at least one of the training schedule and the performance goal.

14. The method of determining athlete performance according to claim 10, wherein the step of revising the at least one of the training schedule and the performance goal is automatically performed in response to the comparison of predicted results of training and the test performance.

15. A method of computing athlete performance, comprising:

receiving at a processor data relating to an athlete'"'"'s goal performance;

receiving at the processor data relating to training for the goal performance, including at least one of future training and past training;

determining a predicted result of the goal performance based on the data relating to training; and

outputting the predicted result.

16. The method of calculating athlete performance according to claim 15, wherein the step of determining the predicted result is also based on one or more constants.

17. The method of calculating athlete performance according to claim 16, further comprising:

processing multiple values for the one or more constants until the predicted corresponds to past training.

18. A system for predicting athlete performance, comprising:

an interface for inputting information relating to a training schedule and recorded training data;

a database for storing the information relating to a training schedule and recorded training data; and

a processor for computing information related to a predicted athlete performance based on the information relating to a training schedule and the recorded training data.

19. The system for predicting athlete performance according to claim 18, further comprising a display for outputting the information related to the predicted athlete performance.

20. The system for predicting athlete performance according to claim 18, wherein the interface for inputting information relating to recorded training data comprises a power meter electrically coupled to the processor.
