Abstract

Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a method for validating clinical data including receiving a consistency requirement, receiving a data claim associated with clinical data, and evaluating the data claim based at least in part on the consistency requirement. Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a clinical data validation system including a consistency requirement input component adapted to receive a consistency requirement, a data claim input component adapted to receive a data claim, and a validation component adapted to evaluate the data claim based at least in part on the consistency requirement. The data claim is associated with clinical data.

Claims

1. A method for validating clinical data, the method including:

receiving a consistency requirement;

receiving a data claim associated with clinical data; and

evaluating the data claim based at least in part on the consistency requirement.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the consistency requirement specifies a desired consistency for clinical data.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the consistency requirement specifies that clinical data be for the same patient.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the consistency requirement specifies that clinical data be for the same exam.

5. The method of claim 1, further including receiving a second data claim associated with a second clinical data, wherein the data claim and the second data claim are received from different applications.

6. The method of claim 1, further including receiving a second data claim associated with a second clinical data, wherein the data claim and the second data claim are received from the same application.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the clinical data is presented to a user.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the clinical data includes a medical image acquired from an imaging modality.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the clinical data includes an electronic medical record.

10. The method of claim 1, further including verifying the data claim based at least in part on a signature.

11. The method of claim 1, further including verifying the data claim with a validation authority.

12. The method of claim 1, further including translating the data claim with a translation authority.

13. The method of claim 1, further including alerting a user when the evaluation step indicates a violation of the consistency requirement.

14. A clinical data validation system, the system including:

a consistency requirement input component adapted to receive a consistency requirement;

a data claim input component adapted to receive a data claim, wherein the data claim is associated with clinical data;

a validation component adapted to evaluate the data claim based at least in part on the consistency requirement.

15. The system of claim 14, further including a translation authority adapted to translate a data claim from one namespace to another namespace.

16. The system of claim 14, further including a validation authority adapted to verify the data claim.

17. The system of claim 14, wherein the data claim block is included in a data claims envelope.

18. The system of claim 14, further including a standardized application programming interface (API) for accessing the data claim.

19. The system of claim 14, further including an alert component adapted to alert a user when the evaluation of the data claim indicates a violation of the consistency requirement.

20. A computer-readable medium including a set of instructions for execution on a computer, the set of instructions including:

a consistency requirement input routine configured to receive a consistency requirement;

a data claim input routine configured to receive a data claim, wherein the data claim is associated with clinical data;

a validation routine configured to evaluate the data claim based at least in part on the consistency requirement.
