Abstract

A medical diagnostic/monitoring system is disclosed herein. The medical diagnostic/monitoring system includes a data acquisition device having a first near field communication device, and a data storage device wirelessly connected to the data acquisition device. The data storage device includes a second near field communication device. The first near field communication device and the second near field communication device are collectively configured to wirelessly transfer power and data from the data acquisition device to the data storage device.

Claims

1. A medical diagnostic/monitoring system comprising:

a data acquisition device including a first near field communication device; and

a data storage device wirelessly connected to the data acquisition device, said data storage device including a second near field communication device;

wherein the first near field communication device and the second near field communication device are collectively configured to wirelessly transfer power and data from the data acquisition device to the data storage device.

2. The medical diagnostic/monitoring system of claim 1, wherein the medical diagnostic/monitoring system comprises an electrocardiogram system.

3. The medical diagnostic/monitoring system of claim 1, wherein the medical diagnostic/monitoring system comprises an electroencephalogram system.

4. The medical diagnostic/monitoring system of claim 1, further comprising a sensor coupled with the data acquisition device.

5. The medical diagnostic/monitoring system of claim 4, wherein the sensor comprises a plurality of electrodes.

6. The medical diagnostic/monitoring system of claim 5, further comprising a conductor configured to couple the plurality of electrodes with the data acquisition device.

7. The medical diagnostic/monitoring system of claim 1, wherein the data storage device comprises a radio frequency identification memory card.

8. The medical diagnostic/monitoring system of claim 7, wherein the radio frequency identification memory card comprises a plurality of alphanumeric characters configured to visually convey a selectable type of information.

9. The medical diagnostic/monitoring system of claim 7, wherein the radio frequency identification memory card comprises a graphic image configured to visually convey information pertaining to the identity of a patient.

10. An electrocardiogram system comprising:

a sensor;

a conductor connected to the sensor;

a data acquisition device connected to the conductor, said data acquisition device including a first near field communication device; and

a radio frequency identification memory card wirelessly connected to the data acquisition device, said radio frequency identification memory card including a second near field communication device;

wherein the first near field communication device and the second near field communication device are collectively configured to wirelessly transfer power and data from the data acquisition device to the radio frequency identification memory card.

11. The electrocardiogram system of claim 10, wherein the sensor comprises a plurality of electrodes.

12. The electrocardiogram system of claim 10, wherein the conductor comprises a plurality of lead wires.

13. The electrocardiogram system of claim 10, wherein the radio frequency identification memory card comprises a plurality of alphanumeric characters configured to visually convey a selectable type of information.

14. The electrocardiogram system of claim 10, wherein the radio frequency identification memory card comprises a graphic image configured to visually convey information pertaining to the identity of a patient.

15. A method for wirelessly transferring electrocardiogram data to a data storage device comprising:

generating an electromagnetic field using a near field communication device;

implementing the electromagnetic field to wirelessly transfer power from a data acquisition device to a radio frequency identification memory card; and

implementing the electromagnetic field to wirelessly transfer electrocardiogram data from the data acquisition device to the radio frequency identification memory card.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising implementing the electromagnetic field to wirelessly transfer information from the radio frequency identification memory card to the data acquisition device.

17. The method of claim 15, further comprising sensing a cardiac electrical signal with an electrode.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising implementing the electrode to generate an analog signal proportional to the sensed cardiac electrical signal, and transmitting the analog signal from the electrode to the data acquisition device.

19. The method of claim 18, further comprising converting the analog signal into a digital signal.
