Abstract

An RFID reader control system and method is provided. A protocol for controlling an RFID reader and an RFID reader control unit of a mobile phone is defined. Messages, information, commands, responses, and notification are constructed and transmitted between the RFID reader and the RFID reader control unit.

Claims

1. A method for transmitting a message between a reader controller and a reader, the method comprising:

generating a message at the reader controller or the reader, the message including a preamble, a header, a payload, and an end mark; and

transmitting the generated message to the reader or the reader controller.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the preamble is configured to describe data informing the start of the message.

3. The method according to claim 1, wherein the header includes information about a message type, a code, and a payload length.

4. The method according to claim 1, wherein the header includes a message type for discriminating between a command that is sent to the reader and a response and a notification that are received from the reader.

5. The method according to claim 4, wherein the message type is one of a command, a response, a notification, and a test mode.

6. The method according to claim 1, wherein the header includes a code for discriminating among a command, a response and a notification.

7. The method according to claim 1, wherein the header includes a field indicating the payload length.

8. The method according to claim 7, wherein the payload length field indicating the payload length includes the value of the payload length.

9. The method according to claim 1, wherein the payload is configured to write data that are exchanged between the reader and the reader controller.

10. The method according to claim 1, wherein the message is transmitted on the basis of the big-Endian format.

11. The method according to claim 1, wherein the message is transmitted in the order of the preamble, the header, the payload, and the end mark.

12. The method according to claim 1, wherein the message is an RFID reader control protocol message.

13. A method for transmitting a message between a controller and a target device, the method comprising:

generating a message at the controller or the target device, the message including a preamble, a header, a payload, and an end mark; and

transmitting the generated message to the target device or the controller.

14. A method for transmitting a message between a control device and a recognition device, the method comprising:

generating a message at the control device or the recognition device, the message including a preamble, a header, a payload, and an end mark; and

transmitting the generated message to the recognition device or the control device.

15. A method for receiving and processing a message between a reader controller and a reader, the method comprising:

receiving a message at the reader controller or the reader, the message including a preamble, a header, a payload, and an end mark; and

decoding the received message and performing an operation based on the decoding results.

16. The method according to claim 15, wherein the preamble is configured to describe data informing the start of the message.

17. The method according to claim 15, wherein the header includes information about a message type, a code, and a payload length.

18. The method according to claim 15, wherein the header includes a message type for discriminating between a command that is sent to the reader and a response and a notification that are received from the reader.

19. The method according to claim 18, wherein the message type is one of a command, a response, a notification, and a test mode.

20. The method according to claim 15, wherein the header includes a code for discriminating among a command, a response and a notification.

21. The method according to claim 15, wherein the header includes a field indicating the payload length.

22. The method according to claim 21, wherein the payload length field indicating the payload length includes the value of the payload length.

23. The method according to claim 15, wherein the payload is configured to write data that are exchanged between the reader and the reader controller.

24. The method according to claim 15, wherein the message is transmitted on the basis of the big-Endian format.

25. The method according to claim 15, wherein the message is transmitted in the order of the preamble, the header, the payload, and the end mark.

26. The method according to claim 15, wherein the message is an RFID reader control protocol message.

27. A method for receiving and processing a message between a controller and a target device, the method comprising:

receiving a message at the controller or the target device, the message including a preamble, a header, a payload, and an end mark; and

performing an operation based on the received message.

28. A method for receiving and processing a message between a control device and a recognition device, the method comprising:

receiving a message at the control device or the recognition device, the message including a preamble, a header, a payload, and an end mark; and

decoding the received message and performing an operation based on the decoding results.

29. A method for transmitting and receiving a message, the method comprising:

transmitting a message from a first device or a second device to an opponent device, the message including a preamble, a header, a payload, and an end mark; and

receiving the transmitted device at the opponent device.

30. The method according to claim 29, wherein the message is transmitted between a reader controller and a reader.

31. The method according to claim 29, wherein the message is transmitted between a controller and a target device.

32. The method according to claim 29, wherein the message is an RFID reader control protocol message.

33. The method according to claim 29, wherein the preamble is configured to describe data informing the start of the message.

34. The method according to claim 29, wherein the header includes information about a message type, a code, and a payload length.

35. The method according to claim 29, wherein the header includes a message type for discriminating between a command that is sent to the reader and a response and a notification that are received from the reader.

36. The method according to claim 35, wherein the message type is one of a command, a response, a notification, and a test mode.

37. The method according to claim 29, wherein the header includes a code for discriminating among a command, a response and a notification.

38. The method according to claim 29, wherein the header includes a field indicating the payload length.

39. The method according to claim 38, wherein the payload length field indicating the payload length includes the value of the payload length.

40. The method according to claim 29, wherein the payload is configured to write data that are exchanged between the reader and the reader controller.

41. The method according to claim 29, wherein the message is transmitted on the basis of the big-Endian format.

42. The method according to claim 29, wherein the message is transmitted in the order of the preamble, the header, the payload, and the end mark.

43. A method for transmitting and receiving a message, the method comprising:

transmitting a message from a first device or a second device to an opponent device, the message including a preamble, a header, a payload, and an end mark; and

receiving the transmitted message at the opponent device;

decoding and recognizing the received message.

44. A method for transmitting and receiving a message, the method comprising:

transmitting a message from a first device or a second device to an opponent device, the message including a preamble, a header, a payload, and an end mark;

receiving the transmitted message at the opponent device;

decoding the received message; and

performing an operation based on the decoding results.

45. A method for transmitting and receiving a message, the method comprising:

transmitting a message from a first device or a second device to an opponent device, the message including a preamble, a header, a payload, and an end mark;

receiving the transmitted message at the opponent device;

decoding the received message;

performing an operation based on the decoding results; and

transmitting a message including the performing results.

46. A reader control device comprising:

a reader; and

a reader controller,

wherein a protocol message is exchanged between the reader and the reader controller and the protocol message includes a preamble, a header, a payload, and an end mark.

47. The reader control device according to claim 46, wherein the preamble is configured to describe data informing the start of the message.

48. The reader control device according to claim 46, wherein the header includes information about a message type, a code, and a payload length.

49. The reader control device according to claim 46, wherein the header includes a message type for discriminating between a command that is sent to the reader and a response and a notification that are received from the reader.

50. The reader control device according to claim 49, wherein the protocol message type is one of a command, a response, a notification, and a test mode.

51. The reader control device according to claim 46, wherein the header includes a code for discriminating among a command, a response and a notification.

52. The reader control device according to claim 46, wherein the header includes a field indicating the payload length.

53. The reader control device according to claim 52, wherein the payload length field indicating the payload length includes the value of the payload length.

54. The reader control device according to claim 46, wherein the payload is configured to write data that are exchanged between the reader and the reader controller.

55. The reader control device according to claim 46, wherein the protocol message is transmitted on the basis of the big-Endian format.

56. The reader control device according to claim 46, wherein the message is transmitted in the order of the preamble, the header, the payload, and the end mark.

57. The reader control device according to claim 46, wherein the protocol message is an RFID reader control protocol message.

58. A reader control device comprising:

a reader controller; and

an interface unit for exchanging a protocol message between the reader controller and a reader, the protocol message including a preamble, a header, a payload, and an end mark.

59. A reader control system comprising:

a terminal including a reader controller for transmitting and receiving a protocol message including a preamble, a header, a payload, and an end mark, and an interface unit for exchanging the protocol message between the reader controller and a reader; and

a reader connected to the terminal through the interface unit to receive or transmit the protocol message.
