Abstract

A Publisher source of healthcare data is configured to communicate with an Internet-based data sharing system, the Publisher comprising a Publisher Gateway configured to electronically receive patient data from a plurality of data input sources, automatically correlate data from the plurality of input sources associated with respective patients into respective electronic patient data records having electronically searchable data fields, and electronically store the patient data records in a Publisher database.

Claims

1. A computer program product for providing Publisher data to a collaborative healthcare data sharing system over a computer network, the computer program product comprising:

a computer readable storage medium having computer readable program code embodied in said medium, said computer-readable program code comprising;

computer program code that receives and correlates data from a plurality of different data sources and places data related to a particular patient into a respective electronic patient data record having a plurality of electronically searchable data fields.

2. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising:

computer readable program code configured to electronically store the patient data records in a Publisher database for a limited time.

3. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising:

computer readable program code configured to place electronic patient healthcare data into a standard message format;

computer readable program code configured to selectively remove patient identifier data from patient data messages; and

computer readable program code configured to selectively transmit patient data messages for publication to one or more Subscribers.

A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer readable program code configured to automatically cache certain patient-specific data for a desired interval to correlate later arriving patient-specific related data with current or previously received patient-specific data and thereby compile all related patient event data into respective electronic patient data records.

5. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer readable program code configured to format the patient data into electronic patient messages comprising open standard formats of patient data.

6. A computer program product according to claim 5, further comprising computer readable program code configured to collect patient data and convert certain data into industry accepted laboratory and pharmacy codes.

7. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer readable program code configured to automatically electronically review incoming patient data and normalize patient data into a standardized data message format.

8. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer readable program code that is configured to define a privacy level that controls at least one of:

(a) which Subscribers can electronically receive clinical data from them; and

(b) what clinical data each Subscriber can receive from them.

9. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer readable program code that is configured to receive a publication request from a Subscriber at a web portal via an Administrative Server for a selected healthcare topic.

10. A computer program product according to claim 9, further comprising computer readable program code configured to allow a Publisher to selectively approve or deny the publication request upon local decisional rules such as depending on the requesting Subscriber and/or the requested topic.

11. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer readable program code configured to electronically monitor and automatically identify an adverse drug event in an electronic patient data record and send the identified adverse drug event as an alert.

12. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer readable program code configured to automatically monitor and electronically identify a public health risk disease event and/or a bio-terrorism or environmental exposure event in an electronic patient data record and alert at least one Subscriber.

A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer readable program code configured to configured to define rule criteria for each approved Subscriber request for data to electronically filter and/or search the electronic data records to identify relevant patient data records.

14. A computer program product according to claim 13, further comprising computer readable program code configured to automatically electronically search electronic patient data records using the defined rule criteria for each approved Subscriber request.

15. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer readable program code configured to automatically electronically transmit selected patient data records for publication to approved Subscribers.

16. A computer program product according to claim 15, further comprising computer readable program code configured to remove personal identifier data from selected patient data records before transmitting the patient data record as an outgoing publication to Subscribers.

17. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer readable program code configured to communicate with a global Anonymous Global Patient Identifier Server and/or Module (“

AGPI”

) to assign a unique patient identifier to each outgoing data record publication so that the outgoing publication is traceable but devoid of personal identifying data.

18. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer readable program code configured to map data elements of electronic patient data records into standardized HL7 messages.

19. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer program code configured to convert non-standard HL7 observation messages in electronic patient data records to standard HL7 messages.

20. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer program code configured to convert drug orders from a non standard HL7 observation to a standard pharmacy order message in an electronic patient data record.

21. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer program code configured to map local Publisher codes for Admission Source and Discharge Disposition to HL7 recommended codes and/or data fields.

22. A computer program product according to claim 1, further comprising computer program code configured to map local codes for laboratory observations to system-wide codes of laboratory tests/results.
