Abstract

Systems and methods for profile matching and promotion. Location-related data and other profile characteristics are used for promotion and for matching of businesses, venues and other entities with user specified criteria.

Claims

1. A mobile device, comprising:

a network component that communicates over a network;

a memory component that stores data and executable instructions;

a location component that determines a location of the mobile device; and

a processing component that employs stored data to perform actions, comprising;

employing the determined location to generate a profile information that corresponds to a user, wherein the profile information includes at least a behavior pattern of the user and at least one quality indicator for the profile information; and

providing a display of a selected advertisement to the user, wherein the selection of the advertisement is based at least in part on the profile information that corresponds to the user.

2. The mobile device of claim 1, further comprising a GPS component for providing location information to the location processing component.

3. The mobile device of claim 1, wherein the at least one quality indicator comprises at least one of a relevance level and a confidence level based on trust in a source of the profile information.

4. The mobile device of claim 1, wherein the profile includes time data associated with the determined location.

5. The mobile device of claim 1, wherein the advertisement is selected for display based on at least one portion of the profile information and the determined location.

6. A method of providing an advertisement to a user of a mobile device, comprising:

determining a behavior pattern of the user based at least on one determined location for a mobile device associated with the user;

generating profile information of the user based on the at least one determined location, wherein the profile information is associated with the determined behavior pattern and at least one quality indicator; and

communicating the profile information to a third party, wherein the third party employs the profile information at least in part to select an advertisement for display to the user.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising augmenting the profile information based on new location-based information.

8. The method of claim 6, further comprising using a GPS component to obtain the determined location.

9. The method of claim 6, further comprising determining a context associated with the user based on the determined location.

10. The method of claim 6, wherein the quality indicator comprises at least one of a relevance and a confidence level based on trust in a source of the profile information.

11. The method of claim 6, wherein the quality indicator is determined based on tracking a plurality of locations visited by the user.

12. A computer-readable storage medium that includes executable instructions, wherein the execution of the instructions causes the performance of actions, comprising:

determining a behavior pattern of the user based on at least one determined location for a mobile device associated with the user;

generating profile information of the user based on the at least one determined location, wherein the profile information is associated with the determined behavior pattern and at least one quality indicator; and

communicating the profile to a third party, wherein the third party employs the profile information at least in part to select an advertisement to be displayed to the user.

13. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the determined location is obtained based on a proximity of the mobile computing device to a known location.

14. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the profile information is generated at least in part based on a behavior pattern of another user.

15. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the third party is alerted if the user is in proximity of a store of the third party.

16. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 12, wherein the profile information includes credit information about the user.

17. A system for providing an advertisement to a user, comprising:

a server, including;

a network component for communicating over a network;

a memory for storing data; and

a processor that employs the stored data to perform actions, comprising;

employing at least one determined location of a client to generate a behavior pattern for the user;

generating profile information that corresponds to the user, wherein the profile information is associated with the determined behavior pattern and at least one quality indicator; and

selecting at least one advertisement for display to the user based at least in part on the profile information that corresponds to the user, wherein the selected at least one advertisement is provided to the client;

the client, including;

a network component for communicating over a network;

a memory for storing data;

a locator for determining a location of the client; and

a processor that employs the stored data to perform actions, comprising;

providing the determined location of the client to the server; and

providing the selected advertisement for display to the user.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein the determined behavior pattern includes information about places that the user has visited within a predetermined time.

19. The system of claim 17, wherein the determined behavior pattern includes information about places of a particular type that the user has visited.

20. The system of claim 17, wherein the determined behavior pattern includes information about advertisements that the user has viewed within a predetermined time.

21. The system of claim 17, wherein the user sets rules that control the manner in which a corresponding user profile information is used.

22. A server comprising:

a network component for communicating over a network;

a memory for storing data; and

a processor that employs data stored in the memory to perform actions comprising;

collecting location-based information from a plurality of mobile devices, each of the plurality of mobile devices being associated with a user, the location-based information defining a location context for each of the users;

generating user profile information for each of the users associated with the plurality of the mobile devices based on the location-based information;

storing the user profile information, wherein each of the user profile information is associated with a quality indicator; and

providing the user profile information to a third party for providing advertisements for each of the corresponding users based on the location context of each of the corresponding users.

23. The server of claim 22, further comprising using programmable filters to select the user profile information provided to the third party.

24. The server of claim 22, further comprising using the collected location-based information for training the server to improve a quality of the generated user profile information.

25. The server of claim 22, wherein the third party scans the user profile information for targeted advertising directed to a particular user.

26. The server of claim 22, wherein the third party provides, to the user, composite rating information about products and/or services provided by the third party, the composite rating information determined based at least in part on a plurality of the user profile information.
