Abstract

Disclosed is a cerclage arrangement for fixing a bone fracture, comprising a plate that is provided with a number of continuous holes. The pin is equipped with a head with an opening that extends perpendicular to the direction of the pin and is used for guiding a cerclage band or wire therethrough. The cerclage pin (10) encompasses a shaft (15) which is provided with an end that extends through the plate so as to engage into the bone area that is to be fixed.

Claims

1. Cerclage arrangement for fixing a bone fracture by means of a plate (2) comprising a number of throughholes, where the pin is equipped with a head having an opening (12) that extends perpendicular to the direction of the pin and is used for guiding a cerclage band or wire there through, characterized by the fact that the cerclage pin (10) encompasses a shaft (15), which is provided with an end that extends through the plate so as to engage into the bone area that is to be fixed.

2. Cerclage arrangement according to claim 1, characterized in that the shaft provided with a sharp tip (16a) at its end or is tapering into a rounded ending (16b).

3. Cerclage arrangement according to claim 2, characterized in that in the head portion (11) of the cerclage pin (10) a groove (13) is provided, the groove being directed transverse to the direction of the pin and also transverse to the direction of the opening (12).

4. Cerclage arrangement according to claim 3, characterized in that the groove (13) is rounded in its depth, in particular having a semicircular shaped transverse section.

5. Cerclage arrangement according claim 1, characterized in that between head portion (11) and shaft (15) a conical or rounded area (14) is provided, which extends from the pin to the head and fits in particular into the rounded range of a round or slotted hole of the plate (2).

6. Cerclage arrangement according to claim 5, characterized in that the groove (13) extends into the conical or rounded or abutted area.

7. Cerclage arrangement according to claim 1, characterized in that the transverse opening (12) for passing through the cerclage band (3) exceeds the diameter of the shaft of the cerclage pin by width.

8. Cerclage arrangement according claim 1, characterized in that the cerclage band (3) is forming a packaging unit together with one cerclage pin (10).

9. Cerclage arrangement according to claim 1, characterized that it consists of a body-compatible implant material.

10. Cerclage arrangement according to claim 9, characterized in that the body-compatible implant material is an alloy such as CrNi or CrMo.
