Abstract

Some embodiments of a publishing tool to translate documents have been presented. In one embodiment, a master document written in a first natural language is received. The master document is repurposed to generate a set of output documents in one or more predetermined formats, wherein each of the output document is in a distinct one of a set of natural languages.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving a master document written in a first natural language;

repurposing the master document to generate a plurality of output documents in one or more predetermined formats, each of the plurality of output documents in a distinct one of a plurality of natural languages; and

publishing the plurality of output documents.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein repurposing the master document comprises:

translating the master document from the first natural language into each of the plurality of natural languages.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of output documents are viewable using a document viewing tool supporting the one or more predetermined formats.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein publishing the plurality of output documents comprises:

incorporating at least one of the plurality of output documents into a networked user assistance system.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein publishing the plurality of output documents comprises:

posting at least one of the plurality of output documents over a network.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein publishing the plurality of output documents comprises:

sending at least one of the plurality of output documents to a printing facility to print hardcopies of the at least one of the plurality of output documents.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the master document is received at a server from a client machine communicatively coupled to the server via a network.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the master document is received from a user via a user interface being executed on a server.

9. An apparatus comprising:

a parser to parse a master document written in a first natural language; and

a document repurposing module coupled to the parser to receive the parsed master document and to repurpose the master document to generate a plurality of output documents, each of the plurality of output documents in a distinct one of a plurality of natural languages.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the document repurposing module comprises:

a translation module to translate the master document from the first natural language into the plurality of natural languages using a plurality of stylesheets.

11. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein at least one of the plurality of output documents is viewable using a document viewing tool.

12. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein at least one of the plurality of output documents is incorporated into a networked user assistance system.

13. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein at least one of the plurality of output documents is posted over a network.

14. The apparatus of claim 9, further comprising:

a network adaptor to send at least one of the plurality of output documents to a printing facility to print hardcopies of the at least one of the plurality of output documents.

15. A system comprising:

a server coupled to a client machine via a network, the server comprising

an input interface to couple to the network to receive a master document written in a first natural language, and

a document publishing tool to repurpose the master document to generate a plurality of output documents in one or more predetermined formats, each of the plurality of output documents in a distinct one of a plurality of natural languages.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the document publishing tool comprises:

a translation module to translate the master document from the first natural language into the plurality of natural languages.

17. The system of claim 15, wherein the document publishing tool comprises:

a parser to parse and to validate the master document according to a predetermined set of elements.

18. The system of claim 15, further comprising:

the client machine comprising

a user interface to receive the master document from a user, and

a network access application to send the master document to the server via the network.

19. A machine-readable medium that provides instructions that, if executed by a processor, will cause the processor to perform operations comprising:

receiving a master document written in a first natural language;

repurposing the master document to generate a plurality of output documents in one or more predetermined formats, each of the plurality of output documents in a distinct one of a plurality of natural languages; and

publishing the plurality of output documents.

20. The machine-readable medium of claim 19, wherein, if the verifying is successful, the operations further comprise:

translating the master document from the first natural language into each of the plurality of natural languages.

21. The machine-readable medium of claim 19, wherein the plurality of output documents are viewable using a document viewing tool supporting the one or more predetermined formats.

22. The machine-readable medium of claim 19, wherein publishing the plurality of output documents comprises:

incorporating at least one of the plurality of output documents into a networked user assistance system.

23. The machine-readable medium of claim 19, wherein publishing the plurality of output documents comprises:

posting at least one of the plurality of output documents over a network.

24. The machine-readable medium of claim 19, wherein publishing the plurality of output documents comprises:

sending at least one of the plurality of output documents to a printing facility to print hardcopies of the at least one of the plurality of output documents.

25. The machine-readable medium of claim 19, wherein the master document is received at a server from a client machine communicatively coupled to the server via a network.

26. The machine-readable medium of claim 19, wherein the master document is received from a user via a user interface being executed on a server.
