Abstract

An embodiment relates generally to a method of providing computer services. The method includes receiving at least one user-specified requirements for a computer system instantiation and developing a configuration file base on the at least one user-specified requirements. The method also includes instantiating a virtual machine based on the configuration file and providing the virtual machine as the instantiation of the computer system for remote access.

Claims

1. A method of providing computer services, the method comprising:

receiving at least one user-specified requirement for a computer system instantiation;

developing a configuration file base on the at least one user-specified requirement;

instantiating a virtual machine based on the configuration file; and

providing the virtual machine as the instantiation of the computer system for remote access.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising logging into a service portal configured to provide at least computer system instantiation.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising providing a graphical user interface requesting a user to input the at least one user-specified requirement.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the at least one user-specified requirement is one of a software application and hardware component.

5. The method of claim 2, further comprising providing a graphical user interface providing an option to select an interactive communication session with a technical support person.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising invoking the interactive communication session in response to a selection of the option for interactive communication session.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the receiving at least one user-specified requirements for the computer system instantiation is accomplished through the instant messaging session.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein the interactive communication sessions is one of a video conference session and a voice-over-Internet protocol session.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the remote access is one of a login via a virtual private network and a universal resource locater to a secure web-site.

10. A system for providing computer services, the system comprising.

a server configured with a memory, a processor and a network adapter;

and

a service portal configured to accessible over the network adapter, the service portal configured to provide at least one of computer, educational, and technical services and to be executed on the server, wherein the service portal is configured to receive at least one user-specified requirements for a user computer system, to develop a configuration file base on the at least one user-specified requirements, to instantiate a virtual machine based on the configuration file, and to providing the virtual machine as the instantiation of the computer system for remote access.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the service portal is configured to accept login requests from users.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the service portal is configured to provide a graphical user interface requesting a user to input the at least one user-specified requirement.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the at least one user-specified requirement is one of a software application and hardware component.

14. The system of claim 11, wherein the service portal is configured to provide a graphical user interface providing an option to select an interactive communication session with a technical support person.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the service portal is configured to invoke the interactive communication session in response to a selection of the option.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the interactive communication session is an instant messaging session.

17. The system of claim 15, wherein the interactive communication sessions is one of a video conference session and a voice-over-Internet protocol session.

18. The system of claim 10, wherein the remote access is one of a login via a virtual private network and a universal resource locater to a secure web-site.
