Abstract
The present disclosure relates to surgical fastener applying apparatus for sequentially applying a plurality of surgical fasteners to body tissue. The surgical fastener applying apparatus includes a replaceable cartridge assembly receivable in a distal end portion of a cartridge receiving half-section, the cartridge assembly including a safety lockout pivotably disposed along the upper surface of the cartridge assembly and movable from an unlocked orientation permitting assembly of an anvil half-section to the cartridge receiving half-section, to a locked orientation preventing assembly of the anvil half-section to the cartridge receiving-half section.

170. A surgical fastener applying apparatus, comprising:
-
a cartridge half-section having at least one upstanding plate extending from an upper surface of the cartridge half-section, wherein the upstanding plate is located near a proximal end thereof and defines a channel formed therein; and an anvil half-section selectively matable with the cartridge half-section, wherein said cartridge and anvil half-sections are relatively movable from an unmated position to a mated position with one another, the anvil half-section supporting a pin configured for selective engagement in the channel of the upstanding plate, the pin having a body portion and a head portion extending radially outward from the body portion, the pin limiting an angle at which the cartridge half-section and the anvil half-section are properly mateable with one another from a position where they are separate and not in contact. - View Dependent Claims (171, 172, 173, 174)

175. A surgical fastener applying apparatus, comprising:
-
a cartridge half-section having an upstanding plate extending from an upper surface of the cartridge half-section, wherein the upstanding plate is located near a proximal end thereof and defines an open ended channel formed therein; and an anvil half-section selectively matable with the cartridge half-section, wherein said cartridge and anvil half-sections are relatively movable from an unmated position to a mated position with one another, the anvil half-section supporting a pin selectively receivable in the channel of each upstanding juxtaposed plate, the pin having a body portion defining a length and a head portion extending radially outward from the body portion and extending along at least a portion of the length of the body portion, the pin limiting an angle at which the cartridge half-section and the anvil half-section are properly mateable with one another from a position where they are separate and not in contact. - View Dependent Claims (176, 177, 178, 179, 180, 181, 182, 183, 184, 185)
