Abstract

Provided is a wall-mountable printer having a wireless network interface for receiving image data, and a printhead assembly having ink reservoirs and a pagewidth printhead for printing the image data on a sheet of paper. The printer also includes a glue wheel assembly configured to apply glue along an edge of the sheet of paper after printing, and a page binding arrangement configured to bind successive sheets of paper together.

Claims

1. A wall-mountable printer comprising:

a wireless network interface for receiving image data;

a printhead assembly having ink reservoirs and a pagewidth printhead for printing the image data on a sheet of paper;

a glue wheel assembly configured to apply glue along an edge of the sheet of paper after printing; and

a page binding arrangement configured to bind successive sheets of paper together.

2. The printer of claim 1, wherein the glue wheel assembly includes:

a glue wheel;

a partially hollow axle driving the glue wheel, said axle having a rotating coupling for a glue supply hose from a glue cartridge of the printer; and

a camshaft arrangement for operatively exposing the glue wheel to the sheet of paper.

3. The printer of claim 1, wherein the page binding arrangement includes:

a chassis defining an inlet for receiving the sheet of paper from the glue wheel assembly, and an exit hatch from which bound sheets are removable;

a document support platen for supporting bound sheets of paper; and

a binding platen configured to press a sheet of paper onto the document support platen to bind the sheet to successive sheets supported on said support platen.

4. The printer of claim 1, which includes a media feed assembly for feeding the sheets of paper from a paper cartridge to the page binding arrangement via the printer assembly and glue wheel assembly.

5. The printer of claim 2, wherein the glue wheel assembly includes a metal bracket with a molded housing surrounding the wheel, said housing configured to expose the wheel when urged towards the sheet by the camshaft arrangement.

6. The printer of claim 2, wherein the partially hollow axle defines a number of radial holes, said axle configured to operatively absorb adhesive by capillary action through these radial holes.

7. The printer of claim 5, wherein the molded housing defines an opening at a front thereof and includes pivoting side moldings and sprung outer doors attached to the metal bracket which hinges out sideways when the housing is urged to expose the glue wheel through the front of the molded housing.

8. The printer of claim 7, having tension springs between the bracket and housing to close the assembly capping the glue wheel with the housing during periods of inactivity.
