Abstract

Information can transfer from a transmitter to a receiver; however, the transmission can consume valuable resources. Therefore, a number of times a transmission is attempted can be tracked and compared against a threshold value. If the transmission occurs too many times—based upon the comparison—then a reset can occur. Tracking can occur for a protocol data unit and/or a control protocol data unit to determine if a reset should occur.

Claims

1. A method for tracking success of a control protocol data unit transmission, comprising:

identifying a transmission of a control protocol data unit; and

incrementing a counter as a direct correlation of the identified transmission for the control protocol data unit.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining if the transmission is successful.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising comparing the counter after incrementing against a threshold level.

4. The method of claim 3, further comprising triggering reset based upon a result of comparing the threshold against the counter.

5. The method of claim 4, the result that facilitates triggering is when the threshold and the counter are equal or when the counter surpasses the threshold.

6. The method of claim 4, the counter functions for the control protocol data unit and a related protocol data unit.

7. The method of claim 4, the counter is a control protocol data unit specific counter.

8. The method of claim 4, further comprising establishing the threshold.

9. The method of claim 4, further comprising resetting the counter to a base value upon triggering the reset.

10. The method of claim 2, further comprising soliciting a response from a module upon which the transmission is transferred, the response is used in determining if the transmission is successful.

11. A wireless communication apparatus, comprising:

an recognizer that identifies a transmission of a control protocol data unit; and

an aggregator that increments a counter as a direct correlation of the identified transmission for the control protocol data unit.

12. The apparatus of claim 11, further comprising an evaluator that determines if the transmission is successful.

13. The apparatus of claim 12, further comprising a balancer that compares the counter after being incremented against a threshold level.

14. The apparatus of claim 13, further comprising a setter that triggers reset based upon a result of the comparison of the threshold against the counter.

15. The apparatus of claim 14, the result that facilitates implementation of the setter is when the threshold and the counter are equal or when the counter surpasses the threshold.

16. The apparatus of claim 14, the counter functions for the control protocol data unit and a related protocol data unit.

17. The apparatus of claim 14, the counter is a control protocol data unit specific counter.

18. The apparatus of claim 14, further comprising a calculator that establishes the threshold.

19. The apparatus of claim 14, further comprising a controller that resets the counter to a base value upon the trigger of the reset.

20. The apparatus of claim 12, further comprising a communicator that solicits a response from a module upon which the transmission is transferred, the response is used in making a determination upon which if the transmission is successful.

21. A wireless communications apparatus, comprising:

means for identifying a transmission of a control protocol data unit; and

means for incrementing a counter as a direct correlation of the identified transmission for the control protocol data unit.

22. The apparatus of claim 21, further comprising means for determining if the transmission is successful.

23. The apparatus of claim 22, further comprising means for comparing the counter after incrementing against a threshold level.

24. The apparatus of claim 23, further comprising means for triggering reset based upon a result of comparing the threshold against the counter.

25. The apparatus of claim 24, the result that facilitates operation regarding means for triggering is when the threshold and the counter are equal or when the counter surpasses the threshold.

26. The apparatus of claim 24, the counter functions for the control protocol data unit and a related protocol data unit.

27. The apparatus of claim 24, the counter is a control protocol data unit specific counter.

28. The apparatus of claim 24, further comprising means for establishing the threshold.

29. The apparatus of claim 24, further comprising means for resetting the counter to a base value upon triggering the reset.

30. The apparatus of claim 22, further comprising means for soliciting a response from a module upon which the transmission is transferred, the response is used in determining if the transmission is successful.

31. A machine-readable medium having stored thereon machine-executable instructions for:

identifying a transmission of a control protocol data unit; and

incrementing a counter as a direct correlation of the identified transmission for the control protocol data unit.

32. The machine-readable medium of claim 31, further comprising instructions for determining if the transmission is successful.

33. The machine-readable medium of claim 32, further comprising instructions for comparing the counter after incrementing against a threshold level.

34. The machine-readable medium of claim 33, further comprising instructions for triggering reset based upon a result of comparing the threshold against the counter.

35. The machine-readable medium of claim 34, the result that facilitates triggering is when the threshold and the counter are equal or when the counter surpasses the threshold.

36. The machine-readable medium of claim 34, the counter functions for the control protocol data unit and a related protocol data unit.

37. The machine-readable medium of claim 34, the counter is a control protocol data unit specific counter.

38. The machine-readable medium of claim 34, further comprising instructions for establishing the threshold.

39. The machine-readable medium of claim 34, further comprising instructions for resetting the counter to a base value upon triggering the reset.

40. The machine-readable medium of claim 32, further comprising instructions for soliciting a response from a module upon which the transmission is transferred, the response is used in determining if the transmission is successful.

41. In a wireless communication system, an apparatus comprising:

a processor configured to;

identify a transmission of a control protocol data unit; and

increment a counter as a direct correlation of the identified transmission for the control protocol data unit.

42. The apparatus of claim 41, the processor is further configured to determine if the transmission is successful.

43. The apparatus of claim 42, the processor is further configured to compare the counter after incrementing against a threshold level.

44. The apparatus of claim 43, the processor is further configured to trigger reset based upon a result of comparing the threshold against the counter.

45. The apparatus of claim 44, the result that facilitates triggering is when the threshold and the counter are equal or when the counter surpasses the threshold.

46. The apparatus of claim 44, the counter functions for the control protocol data unit and a related protocol data unit.

47. The apparatus of claim 44, the counter is a control protocol data unit specific counter.

48. The apparatus of claim 44, the processor is further configured to establish the threshold.

49. The apparatus of claim 44, the processor is further configured to reset the counter to a base value upon triggering the reset.

50. The apparatus of claim 42, the processor is further configured to solicit a response from a module upon which the transmission is transferred, the response is used in determining if the transmission is successful.

51. A method for facilitating tracking success of a control protocol data unit transmission, comprising:

authenticating a control protocol data unit; and

producing a notice for a module that sends the control protocol data unit to reset a counter upon successful authentication of the control protocol data unit.

52. The method of claim 51, further comprising transferring the notice to the module.

53. The method of claim 51, further comprising collecting the control protocol data unit.

54. The method of claim 53, further comprising extracting identification data from the collected control protocol data unit, the identification data is used in transferring the notice to the module.

55. A wireless communication apparatus, comprising:

a confirmer that authenticates a control protocol data unit; and

an constructer that produces a notice for a module that sends the control protocol data unit to reset a counter upon successful authentication of the control protocol data unit.

56. The method of claim 55, further comprising an emitter that transfers the notice to the module.

57. The method of claim 55, further comprising an obtainer that collects the control protocol data unit.

58. The method of claim 57, further comprising a puller that extracts identification data from the collected control protocol data unit, the identification data is used in transferring the notice to the module.

59. A wireless communications apparatus, comprising:

means for authenticating a control protocol data unit; and

means for producing a notice for a module that sends the control protocol data unit to reset a counter upon successful authentication of the control protocol data unit.

60. The apparatus of claim 59, further comprising means for transferring the notice to the module.

61. The apparatus of claim 59, further comprising means for collecting the control protocol data unit.

62. The apparatus of claim 61, further comprising means for extracting identification data from the collected control protocol data unit, the identification data is used in transferring the notice to the module.

63. A machine-readable medium having stored thereon machine-executable instructions for:

authenticating a control protocol data unit; and

producing a notice for a module that sends the control protocol data unit to reset a counter upon successful authentication of the control protocol data unit.

64. The machine-readable medium of claim 63, further comprising instructions for transferring the notice to the module.

65. The machine-readable medium of claim 63, further comprising instructions for collecting the control protocol data unit.

66. The machine-readable medium of claim 65, further comprising instructions for extracting identification data from the collected control protocol data unit, the identification data is used in transferring the notice to the module.

67. In a wireless communication system, an apparatus comprising:

a processor configured to;

authenticate a control protocol data unit; and

produce a notice for a module that sends the control protocol data unit to reset a counter upon successful authentication of the control protocol data unit.

68. The apparatus of claim 67, the processor is further configured to transfer the notice to the module.

69. The apparatus of claim 67, the processor is further configured to collect the control protocol data unit.

70. The apparatus of claim 69, the processor is further configured to extract identification data from the collected control protocol data unit, the identification data is used in transferring the notice to the module.
