Abstract
The invention relates to a system of a plurality of medical treatment units that are respectively associated with a patient, and a plurality of peripheral appliances also respectively associated with a patient. The peripheral appliances transmit control signals and patient signals to the treatment units, while the treatment units receive the control signals and patient signals from the peripheral appliances. The present invention ensures that the treatment units do not receive patient signals from other peripheral appliances that are not associated with the particular patient. The operating staff allocate a peripheral appliance to a patient and confirm the successful association of the peripheral appliance with the treatment unit allocated to the patient.

13. A system for matching multiple peripheral devices and medical treatment units with the correct patient comprising:

a plurality of peripheral devices and a plurality of medical treatment units, each medical treatment unit and each peripheral device being allocated to a single patient, each peripheral device comprising; a control signal sending means for sending control signals to a treatment unit, a patient signal sending means for sending patient signals to a treatment unit, a first monitoring means for monitoring the allocation of the peripheral device to a patient, and log-on means for logging onto the peripheral device with a treatment unit, said log-on means cooperating with the control signal sending means and the first monitoring means, and each medical treatment unit comprising; a control signal receiving means for receiving control signals from a peripheral device, a patient signal receiving means for receiving patient signals from a peripheral device, an acknowledgement means for inputting the acknowledgement of a successful allocation of a peripheral device to a treatment unit, and a second monitoring means for monitoring the allocation of a peripheral device to the treatment unit, said second monitoring means cooperating with the control signal receiving means, the patient signal receiving means, and the acknowledgement means, wherein when a successful allocation of the peripheral device to a patient has taken place, a log-on signal is sent to the respective treatment unit allocated to the patient; wherein after a log-on signal has been received from the peripheral device, a check is made to establish whether a successful allocation of the peripheral device to the treatment unit has been acknowledged, and wherein when a successful allocation of the peripheral device to the treatment unit has been acknowledged, the patient signal receiving means are activated. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24)
