Abstract

Provided is an interactive system for use with coded data printed on an item with infrared ink to define a hyperlabel. The interacting system includes at least one hyperlabel reading device configured to scan said hyperlabel from the item and to transmit information about such hyperlabel, as well as a receiver configured to receive the transmitted information and to relay the information. The system also includes an application server configured to receive the relayed information and to generate a logical link between the hyperlabel and a specific data element.

Claims

1. An interactive system for use with coded data printed on an item with infrared ink to define a hyperlabel, the interactive system comprising:

at least one hyperlabel reading device configured to scan said hyperlabel and to transmit information about such hyperlabel;

a receiver configured to receive the transmitted information and to relay the information; and

an application server configured to receive the relayed information and to generate a logical link between the hyperlabel and a specific data element.

2. The interactive system of claim 1, wherein the receiver includes a printer for printing an image related to the relayed information.

3. The interactive system of claim 2, wherein the printer is configured to print a sheet of paper with hyperlabels thereon.

4. The interactive system of claim 3, wherein the reading device includes a pen-shaped scanner which is configured to interact with the sheet of printed paper.

5. The interactive system of claim 2, which includes a document server arranged in communication with the application server, the receiver, and the printer, wherein the document server is configured to use the information to access a description of the hyperlabel on the application server.

6. The interactive system of claim 5, wherein the document server is linked to a web server.

7. The interactive system of claim 6, which includes a computer linked to the web server, said computer having a receiver configured to receive the transmitted information from the reading device.
