Abstract

A multiple antenna system for using a relay station with multiple antennas is provided. The system includes a base station for determining encoded data processing procedure based on first and second channel state information, determining a relaying procedure of the relay station, and sending the relaying procedure to the relay station based on the first and second channel state information; wherein the encoded data is terminating to a mobile station; the relay station for receiving data and the relay procedure which the base station sent, converting and sending the data according to the relaying procedure, and sending the first channel state information to the base station as a measured state of channel which receives the data; and the mobile station for receiving the data which the relay station sent, and sending the second channel state information to the relay station as a measured state of channel which receives the data.

Claims

1. A multiple antenna system for using a relay station with multiple antennas, the system comprising:

a base station for determining an encoded data processing procedure based on first channel state information and second channel state information, determining a relaying procedure of the relay station, and sending the relaying procedure to the relay station based on the first channel state information and the second channel state information, wherein the encoded data terminates to a mobile station;

the relay station for receiving data and the relay procedure which the base station sent, converting and sending the data according to the relaying procedure, and sending the first channel state information to the base station, wherein the first channel state information is a measured state of channel which receives the data; and

the mobile station for receiving the data which the relay station sent, and sending the second channel state information to the relay station, wherein the second channel state information is a measured state of channel which receives the data.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the relay station receives the second channel state information from the mobile station and sends the second channel state information to the base station.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the base station determines a matrix for the relaying procedure to maximize the throughput using the equation:

where g_w is a gain factor.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the base station determines a matrix (W) for the relaying procedure to maximize throughput using the equation:

$W=U<br><br>\left[\begin{array}{ccc}{k}_1& & \\ & k_1& \\ & & k_1\end{array}\right]<br><br>V,$

where k_i are the design parameters which determine the power loading at the relay station, and the matrices U and V are unitary matrices that are used to equalize the wireless channels between the relay station and users and between the base station and the relay station respectively.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the base station sends all data with same power, and determines the relaying procedure to make the relay station adjust power so as to maximize throughput.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the base station groups users with good channel state and, processes the encoded data for scheduling so as to maximize throughput.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the relay station relays using an Amplify and Forward (AF) scheme.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the relay station and the mobile station send quantized channel state information respectively.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the relay station and the mobile station send channel state information using a sounding waveform respectively.

10. A base station in a multiple antenna system, comprising:

an encoding module for encoding data to transmit;

an optimization module for determining a relaying procedure of a relay station and a process procedure of the data to transmit based on channel state information of a mobile station and the relay station; and

a precoding module for precoding the encoded data according to the process procedure.

11. The base station of claim 10, wherein the optimization module determines a matrix for the relaying procedure to maximize the throughput using the equation:

where g_w is a gain factor.

12. The base station of claim 10, wherein the optimization module determines a matrix (W) for the relaying procedure to maximize throughput using the equation:

where k_i are design parameters which determine the power loading at the relay station, and the matrices U and V are unitary matrices that are used to equalize the wireless channels between the relay station and users and between the base station and the relay station respectively.

13. The base station of claim 10, wherein the optimization module sends all data with same power, and determines the relaying procedure to make a relay station adjust power so as to maximize the throughput.

14. The base station of claim 10, wherein the optimization module groups users with good channel state, and processes the encoded data for scheduling so as to maximize throughput.

15. A method of transmitting of a base station in a multiple antenna system, the method comprising:

encoding data to transmit;

determining a relaying procedure of a relay station and a process procedure of the data to transmit based on channel state information of a mobile station and a relay station; and

precoding the encoded data according to the process procedure.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the relaying procedure determines a matrix to maximize the throughput using the equation:

where g_w is a gain factor.

17. The method of claim 15, wherein the relaying procedure determines a matrix (W) for the relaying procedure to maximize throughput using the equation:

where k_i are design parameters which determine the power loading at the relay station, and the matrices U and V are unitary matrices that are used to equalize the wireless channels between the relay station and users and between the base station and the relay respectively.

18. The method of claim 15, wherein determining a relaying procedure of the relay station and a process procedure of the data to transmit comprises:

sending all data with same power; and

determining the relaying procedure to make a relay station adjust power so as to maximize the throughput.

19. The method of claim 15, wherein determining a relaying procedure of the relay station and a process procedure of the data to transmit comprises:

grouping users with good channel state; and

processing the encoded data for scheduling so as to maximize throughput.

20. A relay station in a multiple antenna system, comprising:

a feedback module for receiving channel state information from a mobile station, sending to a base station channel state information measured from data which the base station sent; and

a relay module for receiving a relaying procedure from the base station, sending data which the base station sent to the mobile station according to the relaying procedure.

21. The relay station of claim 20, wherein the relay module relays using Amplify and Forward (AF) scheme.

22. The relay station of claim 20, wherein the feedback module sends quantized channel state information.

23. The relay station of claim 20, wherein the feedback module sends channel state information using a sounding waveform.

24. A method of relaying of a relay station in a multiple antenna system, the method comprising:

receiving a channel state information from a mobile station;

sending to a base station a channel state information measured from data which the base station sent and the channel state information from the mobile station;

receiving a relaying procedure from the base station; and

sending data which the base station sent to the mobile station according to the relaying procedure.

25. The method of claim 24, wherein sending data which the base station sent to the mobile station according to the relaying procedure, comprises:

using Amplify and Forward (AF) scheme for the relaying.

26. The method of claim 24, wherein sending to a base station a channel state information measured from data which the base station sent, comprises:

sending quantized channel state information.

27. The method of claim 24, wherein sending to a base station a channel state information measured from data which the base station sent, comprises:

sending channel state information using a sounding waveform.

28. A multiple antenna system for using a relay station with multiple antennas, the system comprising:

a base station for receiving encoded data processing procedure, processing data according to the encoded data processing procedure, and sending to a relay station;

wherein the encoded data is terminating to a mobile station;

the relay station for the data which the base station sent, obtaining first channel state information after measuring, and determining a relaying procedure and the data processing procedure for the base station based on the first channel state information and second channel state information; and

the mobile station for receiving the data which the relay station sent, and sending the second channel state information to the relay station;

wherein the second channel state information is a measured state of channel which receives the data.

29. The system of claim 28, wherein the relay station receives the second channel state information from the mobile station and sends the second channel state information to the base station.

30. The system of claim 28, wherein the relay station determines a matrix for the relaying procedure to maximize the throughput using the equation:

where g_w is a gain factor.

31. The system of claim 28, wherein the relay station determines a matrix (W) for the relaying procedure to maximize throughput using the equation:

36. The system of claim 28, wherein the relay station and the mobile station send channel state information using a sounding waveform respectively.

37. A base station in a multiple antenna system, comprising:

an encoding module for encoding data to transmit;

an optimization module for receiving encoded data processing procedure, determining a process procedure of data to transmit according to the encoded data processing procedure, wherein the encoded data terminates to a mobile station; and

a precoding module for precoding the encoded data according to the process procedure.

38. A method of transmitting of a base station in a multiple antenna system, comprising:

encoding data to transmit;

receiving encoded data processing procedure;

determining a process procedure of data to transmit according to the encoded data processing procedure;

precoding the encoded data according to the process procedure;

wherein the encoded data is terminating to a mobile station; and

sending the encoded data to a relay station.

39. A relay station in a multiple antenna system, comprising:

a feedback module for receiving a channel state information from a mobile station, measuring a channel state from encoded data which base station sent, receiving a process procedure of the encoded data, and outputting the process procedure of the data; and

a relay module for determining a relaying procedure and a process procedure of the encoded data based on the channel state information of the mobile station and a channel state information of the measured channel, and outputting the relaying procedure and the process procedure of the encoded data.

40. The relay station of claim 39, wherein the relay module determines a matrix for the relaying procedure to maximize the throughput using the equation:

where g_w is a gain factor.

41. The relay station of claim 39, wherein the relay module determines a matrix (W) for the relaying procedure to maximize throughput using the equation:

42. The relay station of claim 39, wherein the relay module sends all data with same power, and using the relaying procedure to adjust power so as to maximize throughput.

43. The relay station of claim 39, wherein the relay module groups users with good channel state, and processes the encoded data for scheduling so as to maximize throughput.

44. The relay station of claim 39, wherein the relay module relays an Amplify and Forward (AF) scheme.

45. The system of claim 39, wherein the feedback module sends quantized channel state information.

46. The relay station of claim 39, wherein the feedback module sends channel state information using a sounding waveform.

47. A method of relaying of a relay station in a multiple antenna system, comprising:

receiving a channel state information from a mobile station;

measuring a channel state from encoded data which a base station sent,

determining a relaying procedure and a process procedure of the encoded data based on the channel state information of the mobile station and channel state information of the measured channel; and

sending the relaying procedure and the process procedure of the encoded data to the base station.

48. The method of claim 47, wherein determining a relaying procedure and a process procedure of the encoded data, comprising:

determining a matrix for the relaying procedure to maximize the throughput using the equation;

where g_w is a gain factor.

49. The method of claim 47, wherein determining a relaying procedure and a process procedure of the encoded data, comprising:

determining a matrix (W) for the relaying procedure to maximize throughput using the equation;

50. The method of claim 47, wherein determining a relaying procedure and a process procedure of the encoded data, comprising:

sending all data with same power, and using the relaying procedure to adjust power so as to maximize throughput.

51. The method of claim 47, wherein determining a relaying procedure and a process procedure of the encoded data, comprising:

grouping users with good channel state and, processes the encoded data for scheduling so as to maximize throughput.

52. The method of claim 47, wherein the relaying procedure includes an Amplify and Forward (AF) scheme.

53. The method of claim 47, wherein sending the relaying procedure and the process procedure of the encoded data to the base station, comprising:

sending quantized channel state information.

54. The method of claim 47, wherein sending the relaying procedure and the process procedure of the encoded data to the base station, comprising:

sending channel state information using a sounding waveform.
