Abstract

Pervasive output capability is provided so that an information apparatus can pervasively output digital content to an output device regardless of the processing power, display screen size and memory space of the information apparatus. This allows small mobile devices with limited display, processing power, and memory to be able to output a digital document (e.g., PDF, HTML, PowerPoint etc) in its full original richness, without resorting to downsizing, truncating, reducing, clipping or otherwise altering the original document. A data output service method for rendering at an output device output content managed from an information apparatus may include obtaining by wireless communication from the information apparatus at least part of a document object relating to the output content, obtaining at least part of an output device object with one or more attributes relating to the output device, and providing the document object and the output device object to a server application operated on a server that is distinct from the information apparatus and the output device, and generating with the server application output data relating to the output device. The output data may then be provided to the output device for rendering the output content as the data output service.

66-1. The method of claim 66 further comprising generating at the server output data that is in accordance at least partly to the indication included in the composite message.

82. A data output service method, comprising

establishing a cellular telephone communication channel between a mobile, wireless information apparatus and a server over a cellular telephone communication network;

providing a composite message from the information apparatus to the server, the composite message including at least a reference or pointer to data content and an indication of at least one of a language, format, instruction, or data type acceptable for outputting the data content at an output device;

receiving output data at the information apparatus from the server corresponding to the data content and being in a form that is related at least partly to the indication included in the composite message; and

delivering the output data from the information apparatus to the output device for outputting the data content.

83. The method of claim 82 in which the output device is an audio output device and the output data includes audio data.

84. The method of claim 82 in which the output device is a display device and the output data includes one or more of image data, audio data, and a video data.

85. The method of claim 82 further comprising providing from the information apparatus and to the server one or more of an authentication information, an identification information, and a subscription service information.

86. The method of claim 82 further comprising sending payment information from the information apparatus to the server corresponding to payment for the data output service.

87. The method of claim 86 in which the payment information includes data output service subscriber information corresponding to a pre-arranged subscription to the data output service.

88. The method of claim 87 further comprising correlating the data output service subscriber information with a subscriber database that stores subscriber profiles with subscription payment information.

89. The method of claim 82 further comprising obtaining authentication information from the information apparatus to authenticating permission for the information apparatus to access the data output service.

90. The method of claim 82 further comprising obtaining at the server data content from a content server employing at least partly the reference or pointer to data content.

91. A data output service system, comprising

a wireless communication channel on a wireless communication network between a mobile, wireless information apparatus and a server;

means for providing from the information apparatus to the server, at least a reference or pointer to data content and an indication of at least one of a language, format or data type acceptable for outputting the data content at an output device;

means for receiving output data at the information apparatus from the server corresponding to the data content and being in a form that is related at least partly to the indication provided from the information apparatus to the server; and

means for delivering the output data from the information apparatus to the output device for outputting the data content.

92. The method of claim 91 in which the output device is an audio output device and the output data includes audio data.

93. The method of claim 91 in which the output device is a display device and the output data includes one or more of image data, audio data, and a video data.

94. The method of claim 91 in which the output data is delivered from the information apparatus to the output device over a data output wireless communication channel.

95. The method of claim 91 further comprising the information apparatus discovering the output device prior to delivering the output data.

96. The method of claim 91 in which the output data is delivered from the information apparatus to the output device over a wired connection.

97. The method of claim 91 further comprising providing from the information apparatus and to the server one or more of an authentication information, an identification information and subscription service information.

98. The method of claim 91 further comprising sending payment information from the information apparatus to the server corresponding to payment for the data output service.

99. The method of claim 98 in which the payment information includes data output service subscriber information corresponding to a pre-arranged subscription to the data output service.

100. The method of claim 91 further comprising means for generating at the server an output data that compatible to the indication received from the information apparatus.

101. The method of claim 91 in which the output device further includes an output controller that is externally connected to the output device, and the method further comprising delivering the output data from the information apparatus to the output controller for outputting data content at the output device.

102. The method of claim 101 in which the information apparatus is connected to the output controller via a wireless communication.

103. The method of claim 101 in which the information apparatus is connected to the output controller via a wired connection.
