1. Video processing apparatus in which an output frame is generated from two or more input images by deriving pixels to interleave between lines of pixels of a base field, the pixels being derived from one of at least two pixel generators:
- a first pixel generator arranged to generate a pixel value from one or more fields other than the base field, in dependence on a respective motion vector having a sub-pixel resolution; and
a second pixel generator arranged to generate a pixel value from other pixels of the base field;
the apparatus comprising;
a spatial phase-correcting filter arrangement which receives a group of derived pixels including a current derived pixel as an input, and generates a phase-corrected current pixel value as an output; and
pre-compensation means, operable if a pixel forming part of the group of derived pixels has been generated by the second pixel generator, to apply a spatial phase alteration to approximate the phase of that pixel to the phase of the current derived pixel.

Abstract
A video processing apparatus generates an output frame from two or more input images by deriving pixels to interleave between lines of pixels of a base field. The pixels are derived from one of: a first pixel generator generating a pixel value from one or more fields other than the base field, dependent on a respective motion vector having a sub-pixel resolution; or a second pixel generator generating a pixel value from other pixels of the base field. A spatial phase-correcting filter receives an input group of derived pixels including a current derived pixel, and generates an output phase-corrected current pixel value. A pre-compensation mechanism, operable if a pixel forming part of the derived pixels group has been generated by the second pixel generator, applies spatial phase alteration to approximate the phase of that pixel to the phase of the current derived pixel.

7. An video processing method comprising the steps of
generating an output frame from two or more input images by deriving pixels to interleave between lines of pixels of a base field, the pixels being derived from one of at least two pixel generation steps: - a first pixel generation step to generate a pixel value from one or more fields other than the base field, in dependence on a respective motion vector having a sub-pixel resolution; and
a second pixel generation step to generate a pixel value from other pixels of the base field;applying a spatial phase-correcting filter arrangement which receives a group of derived pixels including a current derived pixel as an input, and generates a phase-corrected current pixel value as an output; and if a pixel forming part of the group of derived pixels has been generated by the second pixel generator, applying a spatial phase alteration to approximate the phase of that pixel to the phase of the current derived pixel. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10, 11)
