Abstract

A device receives an audio voice mail message, converts the audio voice mail message to a text voice mail message, analyzes the text voice mail message for voice mail information, and provides the voice mail information associated with the audio voice mail message to enable review of the voice mail information.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

receiving an audio voice mail message;

converting the audio voice mail message to a text voice mail message;

analyzing the text voice mail message for voice mail information; and

providing the voice mail information associated with the audio voice mail message to enable review of the voice mail information.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein converting the audio voice mail message comprises:

converting the audio voice mail message to the text voice mail message with a speech recognition application.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein analyzing the text voice mail message comprises:

examining the text voice mail message for topical information;

examining the text voice mail message for context information; and

extracting the topical and context information from the text voice mail message.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein providing the voice mail information comprises:

providing the voice mail information to a set top box to enable review of the voice mail information via the set top box.

5. A method, comprising:

receiving voice mail information extracted from an audio voice mail message;

determining a delivery technique for the voice mail information based on user preferences; and

displaying the voice mail information to the user based on the determined delivery technique.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

sending notification information about the audio voice mail message based on the determined delivery technique.

7. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

receiving selection of the audio voice mail message; and

enabling user interaction with the selected audio voice mail message.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein enabling user interaction comprises at least one of:

enabling the user to review the selected audio voice mail message;

enabling the user to delete the selected audio voice mail message;

enabling the user to forward the selected audio voice mail message;

enabling the user to reply to the selected audio voice mail message;

or

enabling the user to associate related content with the selected audio voice mail message.

9. The method of claim of claim 8, wherein enabling the user to reply to the selected audio voice mail message comprises at least one of:

enabling a reply to the selected voice mail message via an audio recording;

enabling the reply to the selected voice mail message via text;

providing topical and context information related to the selected voice mail message with the reply;

providing the selected audio voice mail message with the reply;

or

providing text of the selected audio voice mail message with the reply.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein enabling the user to associate related content comprises:

associating the related content with the selected audio voice mail message; and

displaying the related content to the user.

11. The method of claim 5, wherein displaying the voice mail information comprises at least one of:

displaying a date and a time associated with the audio voice mail message;

displaying a phone number and a name of a party who created the audio voice mail message;

displaying a duration of the audio voice mail message;

displaying an urgency of the audio voice mail message;

or

displaying whether the audio voice mail message has been reviewed.

12. The method of claim 5, wherein displaying the voice mail information comprises:

incorporating topical and context information into the voice mail information; and

displaying the voice mail information with the incorporated topical and context information.

13. A system, comprising:

one or more devices to;

receive an audio voice mail message,

convert the audio voice mail message to a text voice mail message,

extract voice mail information from the text voice mail message,

determine a person who created the audio voice mail based on an address book lookup comparison with the voice mail information, and

provide the voice mail information associated with the audio voice mail message to enable review of the voice mail information.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the one or more devices are further configured to:

examine the text voice mail message for topical information;

examine the text voice mail message for context information; and

extract the topical and context information from the text voice mail message.

15. The system of claim 13, wherein the one or more devices are further configured to at least one of:

provide the voice mail information to a computer;

provide the voice mail information to a cellular phone;

provide the voice mail information to a telephone;

or

provide the voice mail information to a set top box.

16. The system of claim 13, wherein the one or more devices are further configured to at least one of:

provide the voice mail information via an e-mail message;

provide the voice mail information via a Short Message Service (SMS) message;

or

provide the voice mail information via an instant message.

17. The system of claim 13, wherein the one or more devices are further configured to:

determine a delivery technique for the voice mail information based on user preferences; and

display the voice mail information to the user based on the determined delivery technique.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein the one or more devices are further configured to:

send notification information about the audio voice mail message based on the determined delivery technique.

19. The system of claim 18, wherein the one or more devices are further configured to at least one of:

send the notification information via an e-mail message;

send the notification information via a Short Message Service (SMS) message;

send the notification information via an instant message;

or

send the notification information via a pop-up message.

20. The system of claim 13, wherein the one or more devices are further configured to:

receive selection of the audio voice mail message; and

enable user interaction with the selected audio voice mail message.

21. The system of claim 20, wherein the one or more devices are further configured to at least one of:

enable the user to review the selected audio voice mail message;

enable the user to delete the selected audio voice mail message;

enable the user to forward the selected audio voice mail message;

enable the user to reply to the selected audio voice mail message;

or

enable the user to associate related content with the selected audio voice mail message.

22. The system of claim 21, wherein the one or more devices are further configured to at least one of:

provide topical and context information related to the selected voice mail message with the reply;

provide the selected audio voice mail message with the reply;

or

provide text of the selected audio voice mail message with the reply.

23. The system of claim 21, wherein the one or more devices are further configured to:

associate the related content with the selected audio voice mail message; and

display the related content to the user.

24. The system of claim 23, wherein the related content comprises at least one of:

voice mail messages related to the selected voice mail message;

e-mail messages related to the selected voice mail message;

or

text messages related to the selected voice mail message.

25. A system, comprising:

means for receiving an audio voice mail message;

means for converting the audio voice mail message to a text voice mail message;

means for analyzing the text voice mail message for voice mail information; and

means for providing the voice mail information associated with the audio voice mail message to enable review of the voice mail information.
