Abstract

A display device is provided which includes: pixel circuits for pixel electrode switching, arranged on a substrate; and an interlayer insulating film covering the pixel circuits. In this display device, the interlayer insulating film has connection holes which expose at bottom portions thereof connection portions of the pixel circuits, and connection portions of adjacent pixel circuits of the pixel circuits are exposed at the bottom portions of the connection holes. A method for manufacturing the above display device is also provided.

Claims

1. A display device comprising:

pixel circuits for pixel electrode switching, arranged on a substrate; and

an interlayer insulating film covering the pixel circuits,

wherein the interlayer insulating film has connection holes exposing at bottom portions thereof connection portions of the pixel circuits, and

connection portions of adjacent pixel circuits of the pixel circuits are exposed at the bottom portions of the connection holes.

2. The display device according to claim 1,

further comprising pixel electrodes which are disposed on the interlayer insulating film and which are independently connected to the respective pixel circuits at the bottom portions of the connection holes.

3. The display device according to claim 2,

wherein the connection portions of the adjacent pixel circuits, which are connected with the respective pixel electrodes, are disposed at the center between adjacent pixels.

4. The display device according to claim 1,

wherein the pixel circuits are disposed at intersections between scanning lines and signal lines,

the pixel circuits adjacently disposed in a scanning line direction are arranged in line symmetry with respect to the signal lines, and

the connection holes are disposed on the pixel circuits adjacently disposed in the scanning line direction.

5. The display device according to claim 1,

wherein the pixel circuits are disposed at intersections between scanning lines and signal lines,

the pixel circuits adjacently disposed in a signal line direction are arranged in line symmetry with respect to the scanning lines, and

the connection holes are disposed on the pixel circuits adjacently disposed in the signal line direction.

6. The display device according to claim 1,

wherein the pixel circuits are disposed at intersections between scanning lines and signal lines,

the pixel circuits adjacently disposed in a scanning line direction are arranged in line symmetry with respect to the signal lines,

the pixel circuits adjacently disposed in a signal line direction are arranged in line symmetry with respect to the scanning lines, and

the connection holes are disposed on the pixel circuits adjacently disposed in the signal line direction and in the scanning line direction.

7. The display device according to claim 5 or 6,

further comprising common lines connected to the pixel circuits,

wherein the common lines are each commonly used by two pixel circuits disposed between two scanning lines provided adjacent to each other.

8. The display device according to claim 1,

wherein the interlayer insulating film comprises an organic material.

9. A display device comprising:

pixel circuits arranged on a substrate;

an interlayer insulating film covering the pixel circuits; and

pixel electrodes which are provided on the interlayer insulating film and which are connected to the respective pixel circuits,

wherein connection portions of adjacent pixel circuits of the pixel circuits, which are connected with the pixel electrodes, are disposed at the center between adjacent pixels.

10. A method for manufacturing a display device, comprising the steps of:

forming pixel circuits for pixel electrode switching to be arranged on a substrate; and

forming an interlayer insulating film on the substrate, which has connection holes to expose at bottom portions thereof connection portions of the pixel circuits,

wherein connection portions of adjacent pixel circuits of the pixel circuits are exposed at the bottom portions of the connection holes.

11. The method for manufacturing a display device, according to claim 10,

further comprising the step of, after the interlayer insulating film is formed, forming pixel electrodes which are arranged on the interlayer insulating film and which are independently connected to the respective pixel circuits at the bottom portions of the connection holes.

12. The method for manufacturing a display device, according to claim 10,

wherein the step of forming an interlayer insulating film is performed by a printing method.
