1. A DC bus voltage regulator system, comprising:

  • a power converter circuit that includes a converter component and a line inverter component with a DC bus junction situated between the converter component and the line inverter component configured to process power generated by an electrical power generation system;

    a voltage regulator control board configured to detect a shift in the DC Bus voltage away from normal operational values during a voltage irregularity and maintain overvoltage regulation operational characteristics for the DC bus junction during the voltage irregularity;

    a switching device connected to a voltage regulator control board output and a negative side of the DC bus junction;

    a resistor connected in series between the switching device and a positive side of the DC bus junction configured to facilitate power dissipation in coordination with the switching device during the voltage irregularity and maintain overvoltage operational characteristics including an overvoltage reference operational voltage value; and

    a flyback diode connected in parallel to the resistor with the cathode of the diode connected to the positive side of the DC bus junction.
