1. A system for powering an accessory component of a vehicle comprising:

  • an engine including a crankshaft;

    an electric motor; and

    a mechanically driven accessory component wherein the electric motor and crankshaft are configured to be selectively mechanically coupled and wherein the electric motor and accessory component are configured to be selectively mechanically coupled, thereby powering the accessory component.
