Abstract

Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate identifying peers based upon encoded signals during peer discovery in a peer to peer network. For example, direct signaling that partitions a time-frequency resource into a number of segments can be utilized to communicate an identifier within a peer discovery interval; thus, a particular segment selected for transmission can signal a portion of the identifier, while a remainder can be signaled based upon tones communicated within the selected segment. Moreover, a subset of symbols within the resource can be reserved (e.g., unused) to enable identifying and/or correcting timing offset. Further, signaling can be effectuated over a plurality of peer discovery intervals such that partial identifiers communicated during each of the peer discovery intervals can be linked (e.g., based upon overlapping bits and/or bloom filter information).

Claims

1. A method that facilitates employing a bloom filter while signaling partial identifiers for peer discovery, comprising:

transmitting a first partial identifier during a first peer discovery interval;

transmitting a second partial identifier during a second peer discovery interval;

generating bloom filter information based upon the combination of the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier; and

transmitting the bloom filter information to enable a peer to link the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first partial identifier includes a first Y bits of an identifier and the second partial identifier includes a next Y bits of the identifier, where Y is an integer.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first partial identifier includes a first Y bits of an identifier and the second partial identifier includes Y bits of the identifier, where X of the Y bits of the second partial identifier overlap with the first partial identifier and X is an integer less than Y.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising transmitting at least one additional partial identifier during at least one additional peer discovery interval to signal a complete identifier related to the transmitting wireless terminal.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising inputting the combination of the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier to a bloom filter to yield the bloom filter information.

6. The method of claim 1, transmitting the bloom filter information pertaining to the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier during the second peer discovery interval along with the second partial identifier.

7. A wireless communications apparatus, comprising:

a memory that retains instructions related to transmitting a first partial identifier during a first peer discovery interval, transmitting a second partial identifier during a second peer discovery interval, generating bloom filter information based upon the combination of the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier, and transmitting the bloom filter information to enable a peer to link the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier; and

a processor, coupled to the memory, configured to execute the instructions retained in the memory.

8. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 7, wherein the first partial identifier includes a first Y bits of an identifier and the second partial identifier includes a next Y bits of the identifier, where Y is an integer.

9. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 7, wherein the first partial identifier includes a first Y bits of an identifier and the second partial identifier includes a next Y bits of the identifier, where Y is an integer.

10. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 7, wherein the memory further retains instructions for transmitting at least one additional partial identifier during at least one additional peer discovery interval to signal a complete identifier related to the transmitting wireless terminal.

11. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 7, wherein the memory further retains instructions for inputting the combination of the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier to a bloom filter to yield the bloom filter information.

12. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 7, wherein the memory further retains instructions for transmitting the bloom filter information pertaining to the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier during the second peer discovery interval along with the second partial identifier.

13. A wireless communications apparatus that enables employing a bloom filter while signaling partial identifiers for peer discovery, comprising:

means for transmitting a first partial identifier during a first peer discovery interval;

means for transmitting a second partial identifier during a second peer discovery interval;

means for generating bloom filter information based upon the combination of the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier; and

means for transmitting the bloom filter information to enable a peer to link the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier.

14. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 13, wherein the first partial identifier includes a first Y bits of an identifier and the second partial identifier includes a next Y bits of the identifier, where Y is an integer.

15. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 13, wherein the first partial identifier includes a first Y bits of an identifier and the second partial identifier includes Y bits of the identifier, where X of the Y bits of the second partial identifier overlap with the first partial identifier and X is an integer less than Y.

16. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 13, further comprising means for transmitting at least one additional partial identifier during at least one additional peer discovery interval to signal a complete identifier related to the transmitting wireless terminal.

17. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 13, further comprising means for inputting the combination of the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier to a bloom filter to yield the bloom filter information.

18. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 13, further comprising means for transmitting the bloom filter information pertaining to the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier during the second peer discovery interval along with the second partial identifier.

19. A machine-readable medium having stored thereon machine-executable instructions for:

transmitting a first partial identifier during a first peer discovery interval;

transmitting a second partial identifier during a second peer discovery interval;

generating bloom filter information based upon the combination of the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier; and

transmitting the bloom filter information to enable a peer to link the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier.

20. The machine-readable medium of claim 19, wherein the first partial identifier includes a first Y bits of an identifier and the second partial identifier includes a next Y bits of the identifier, where Y is an integer.

21. The machine-readable medium of claim 19, wherein the first partial identifier includes a first Y bits of an identifier and the second partial identifier includes Y bits of the identifier, where X of the Y bits of the second partial identifier overlap with the first partial identifier and X is an integer less than Y.

22. The machine-readable medium of claim 19, the machine-executable instructions further comprise transmitting at least one additional partial identifier during at least one additional peer discovery interval to signal a complete identifier related to the transmitting wireless terminal.

23. The machine-readable medium of claim 19, the machine-executable instructions further comprise inputting the combination of the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier to a bloom filter to yield the bloom filter information.

24. The machine-readable medium of claim 19, the machine-executable instructions further comprise transmitting the bloom filter information pertaining to the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier during the second peer discovery interval along with the second partial identifier.

25. In a wireless communication system, an apparatus comprising:

a processor configured to;

transmit a first partial identifier during a first peer discovery interval;

transmit a second partial identifier during a second peer discovery interval;

generate bloom filter information based upon the combination of the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier; and

transmit the bloom filter information to enable a peer to link the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier.

26. A method that facilitates employing a bloom filter to match partial identifiers, comprising:

receiving a first set of partial identifiers during a first peer discovery interval;

receiving a second set of partial identifiers during a second peer discovery interval; and

linking partial identifiers from the first set and the second set based upon received bloom filter information.

27. The method of claim 26, wherein the bloom filter information enables verifying a link between the partial identifiers from the first set and the second set.

28. The method of claim 26, further comprising inputting a combination of a first partial identifier from the first set and a second partial identifier from the second set to a bloom filter associated with a receiving wireless terminal.

29. The method of claim 28, further comprising comparing an output from the bloom filter associated with the receiving wireless terminal to the received bloom filter information.

30. The method of claim 29, further comprising linking the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier when the output exists within the received bloom filter information.

31. The method of claim 26, further comprising linking the partial identifiers based upon overlapping bits.

32. A wireless communications apparatus, comprising:

a memory that retains instructions related to receiving a first set of partial identifiers during a first peer discovery interval, receiving a second set of partial identifiers during a second peer discovery interval, and linking partial identifiers from the first set and the second set based upon received bloom filter information; and

a processor, coupled to the memory, configured to execute the instructions retained in the memory.

33. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 32, wherein the bloom filter information enables verifying a link between the partial identifiers from the first set and the second set.

34. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 32, wherein the memory further retains instructions for inputting a combination of a first partial identifier from the first set and a second partial identifier from the second set to a bloom filter associated with a receiving wireless terminal.

35. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 34, wherein the memory further retains instructions for comparing an output from the bloom filter associated with the receiving wireless terminal to the received bloom filter information.

36. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 35, wherein the memory further retains instructions for linking the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier when the output exists within the received bloom filter information.

37. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 32, wherein the memory further retains instructions for linking the partial identifiers based upon overlapping bits.

38. A wireless communications apparatus that enables employing a bloom filter to match partial identifiers, comprising:

means for receiving a first set of partial identifiers during a first peer discovery interval;

means for receiving a second set of partial identifiers during a second peer discovery interval; and

means for linking partial identifiers from the first set and the second set based upon received bloom filter information.

39. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 38, wherein the bloom filter information enables verifying a link between the partial identifiers from the first set and the second set.

40. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 38, further comprising means for inputting a combination of a first partial identifier from the first set and a second partial identifier from the second set to a bloom filter associated with a receiving wireless terminal.

41. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 40, further comprising means for comparing an output from the bloom filter associated with the receiving wireless terminal to the received bloom filter information.

42. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 41, further comprising means for linking the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier when the output exists within the received bloom filter information.

43. The wireless communications apparatus of claim 38, further comprising means for linking the partial identifiers based upon overlapping bits.

44. A machine-readable medium having stored thereon machine-executable instructions for:

receiving a first set of partial identifiers during a first peer discovery interval;

receiving a second set of partial identifiers during a second peer discovery interval; and

linking partial identifiers from the first set and the second set based upon received bloom filter information.

45. The machine-readable medium of claim 44, wherein the bloom filter information enables verifying a link between the partial identifiers from the first set and the second set.

46. The machine-readable medium of claim 44, the machine-executable instructions further comprise:

inputting a combination of a first partial identifier from the first set and a second partial identifier from the second set to a bloom filter associated with a receiving wireless terminal;

comparing an output from the bloom filter associated with the receiving wireless terminal to the received bloom filter information; and

linking the first partial identifier and the second partial identifier when the output exists within the received bloom filter information.

47. The machine-readable medium of claim 44, the machine-executable instructions further comprise linking the partial identifiers based upon overlapping bits.

48. In a wireless communication system, an apparatus comprising:

a processor configured to;

receive a first set of partial identifiers during a first peer discovery interval;

receive a second set of partial identifiers during a second peer discovery interval; and

link partial identifiers from the first set and the second set based upon received bloom filter information.
