Abstract

There is provided a method for transmitting channel state information in a wireless communication system. The method includes receiving a pilot signal, obtaining an estimated channel using the pilot signal, obtaining a plurality of bases representing the estimated channel, wherein a basis comprises a plurality of vectors and transmitting a representative vector as channel state information, wherein the representative vector is selected from the plurality of bases.

Claims

1. A method for transmitting channel state information in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

receiving a pilot signal;

obtaining an estimated channel using the pilot signal;

obtaining a plurality of bases representing the estimated channel, wherein a basis comprises a plurality of vectors; and

transmitting a representative vector as channel state information, wherein the representative vector is selected from the plurality of bases.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein a coefficient of a representative vector is largest among coefficients of the plurality of vectors.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the coefficient of the representative vector which is a value obtained by projecting the estimated channel onto the representative vector.

4. A method for transmitting data in a multiple antenna system, the method comprising:

preparing a plurality of weight matrixes for a plurality of antennas;

receiving information for a plurality of representative vectors which is selected for each weight matrixes and represent channel information;

beam-forming a signal using the plurality of weight matrixes; and

transmitting the signal through the plurality of antennas.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein information for the plurality of representative vectors is indexes of the plurality of representative vectors.

6. A method for transmitting channel state information in a multiple antenna system, the method comprising:

preparing a basis comprising a plurality of vectors;

selecting at least two representative vectors from the basis so that the two representative vectors represent a channel; and

transmitting the two representative vectors as channel state information.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the two representative vectors are selected in the order of coefficients and an coefficient is a value in the direction of each of the plurality of vectors.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the channel state information comprises the indexes of the two representative vectors and the coefficients for the two representative vectors.

9. The method of claim 6, wherein the channel state information comprises a MCS (Modulation and Coding Scheme) index.

10. The method of claim 6, wherein the channel state information comprises a power offset.

11. A method for generating channel state information in a multiple antenna system, the method comprising:

preparing a set of bases comprising a plurality of bases, a basis comprising a plurality of vectors, the basis spanning vector space for a multiple antenna;

selecting a representative vector from the set of bases to represent a channel; and

generating channel state information using the representative vector.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising shifting phases of the set of bases before selecting the representative vector.

13. A method for transmitting data in a multiple antenna system, the method comprising:

receiving channel state information comprising a representative vector selected from a set of weight matrixes;

scheduling an user using the channel state information;

generating a signal for the user sequentially using a weight matrix which comprise the representative vector; and

transmitting the signal for the user.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the representative vector represents a channel for the user.
