Abstract

An endoluminal treatment device and method includes introducing an endoluminal device into a lumen of a patient and engaging a wall of the lumen with an implant device. The implant device can be a drug delivery device or medical device.

Claims

1. An implant device, comprising:

a medical implant configured to be implanted within a body cavity without creating an incision in skin;

the medical implant being configured to maintain a plication in a wall of the cavity;

wherein the medical implant applies a medical treatment to the body after implantation.

2. The implant of claim 1, wherein the medical implant comprises a member selected from the group consisting of a drug delivery device, a time released drug delivery device, a coating, a biological stimulation device, a monitoring device, a feeding tube, a bioresorbable material, a bioresorbable material including a drug, and combinations thereof.

3. The implant of claim 2, wherein the biological stimulation device is selected from the group consisting of an electrical stimulation device, a mechanical stimulation device, a vibratory device, a sound device, an ultra-sound device, a chemical stimulation device, a neuro-transmitter stimulation device, a thermal stimulation device, a sensory stimulation device, and combinations thereof.

4. The implant of claim 2, further comprising a controller configured to control the biological stimulation device.

5. The implant of claim 4, wherein the controller controls the biological stimulation device from external to the body.

6. The implant of claim 5, wherein the controller controls the biological stimulation device through radio frequency.

7. The implant of claim 2, wherein the monitoring device is selected from the group consisting of a pH sensor, a pressure sensor, a video sensor, a chemical sensor, a hormone sensor, a dilation sensor, a fluid sensor, an ion sensor, a tissue extension sensor, and combinations thereof.

8. The implant of claim 1, wherein the medical treatment includes material selected from the group consisting of radioactive material, chemotherapy material, biological material, and combinations thereof.

9. An endoscopic treatment method, comprising:

introducing an endoscopic device into a body cavity of a patient without creating an incision in the patient'"'"'s skin;

engaging a wall of the cavity with an end effecter of the endoscopic device to form a plication; and

activating the end effecter to secure the plication with an anchor object and a treatment device, wherein the treatment device is coupled with the anchor object, wherein the treatment device applies a medical treatment to the patient after the plication is secured.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the treatment device includes a member selected from the group consisting of a drug delivery device, a time release drug delivery device, a gastric condition treatment device, a biological stimulation device, a feeding tube, a bioresorbable material, a bioresorbable material including a drug, and combinations thereof.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the medical treatment includes a member selected from the group consisting of a radioactive material, a chemotherapy material, a biological material, and combinations thereof.

12. The method of claim 10, wherein the biological stimulation device is selected from the group consisting of an electrical stimulation device, a mechanical stimulation device, a vibratory device, a sound device, an ultra-sound device, a chemical stimulation device, a neuro-transmitter stimulation device, a thermal stimulation device, a sensory stimulation device, and combinations thereof.

13. The method of claim 10, further comprising controlling the biological stimulation device from external to the patient.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the controlling the biological stimulation device includes using radio frequency.

15. The method of claim 9, wherein the treatment device includes a monitoring device.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the monitoring device is selected from the group consisting of a pH sensor, a pressure sensor, a video sensor, a chemical sensor, a hormone sensor, a dilation sensor, a fluid sensor, an ion sensor, a tissue extension sensor, and combinations thereof.

17. The method of claim 9, wherein the anchor object further includes an attachment device for removably coupling the treatment device.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the attachment device is selected from the group consisting of a hook, a magnet, a loop, and combinations thereof.

19. The method of claim 9, further comprising, before engaging the wall of the cavity with the end effecter, engaging the wall of the cavity with a guide wire such that the end effecter is guided to a desired location.

20. An endoscopic treatment method, comprising:

introducing an endoscopic device into a body cavity of a patient without creating an incision in the patient'"'"'s skin;

introducing a treatment device into the cavity;

engaging a wall of the cavity with an end effecter of the endoscopic device;

forming a plication in the wall of the cavity such that an open pocket is formed in the wall of the cavity; and

coupling an implant device with the plication, wherein the implant device delivers a drug to the patient.
