Abstract

Aggregating a content item with an event is disclosed. An event is created based on a user-provided or a feed sourced content item. The user-provided or feed sourced content item is aggregated with the event. The user-provided or feed sourced content item is identified using a query to one or more repositories.

Claims

1. A method for aggregating a content item with an event, comprising:

creating an event based on a user-provided content item;

aggregating a content item with the event, wherein the content item is identified using a query to one or more repositories.

2. A method as in claim 1, further comprising verifying the user-provided content item.

3. A method as in claim 2, wherein verifying comprises identifying a feed-sourced content item corresponding to the user-provided content item.

4. A method as in claim 2, wherein verifying comprises identifying a predetermined number of user-provided content items corresponding to the same event.

5. A method as in claim 2, wherein verifying comprises identifying that a provider of the user-provided content item satisfies a trusted user criteria.

6. A method as in claim 5, wherein the trusted user criteria comprises having a history of submitting one or more previously verified events.

7. A method as in claim 5, wherein the trusted user criteria comprises having no history of submitting a false event.

8. A method as in claim 1, wherein the query is generated using a context.

9. A method as in claim 8, wherein the context comprises one or more tags contributed by a user that provided the user-provided content item.

10. A method as in claim 8, wherein the context comprises a title contributed by a user that provided the user-provided content item.

11. A method as in claim 8, wherein the context comprises a summary contributed by a user that provided the user-provided-content item.

12. A method as in claim 8, wherein the context comprises a text contributed by a user that provided the user-provided content item.

13. A method as in claim 8, wherein the query includes a location associated with the context.

14. A method as in claim 1, wherein the query is submitted to geographically relevant sources.

15. A method as in claim 1, wherein the query is generate using bi-grams.

16. A method as in claim 1, wherein the query is ordered using bi-grams.

17. A method as in claim 1, wherein one repository of the one or more repositories includes blog entries.

18. A method as in claim 1, wherein one repository of the one or more repositories includes videos.

19. A method as in claim 1, wherein one repository of the one or more repositories includes images.

20. A method as in claim 1, wherein one repository of the one or more repositories includes face images.

21. A method as in claim 1, wherein the content item is checked for relevance.

22. A method as in claim 21, wherein the content item is checked for relevance by computing a similarity score based on similarity between the content item and a context model of the event

23. A method as in claim 22, wherein the similarity comprises one or more of the following:

textual, temporal, or location similarity.

24. A system for aggregating a content item with an event, comprising:

an event creator for creating an event based on a user-provided content item;

a content item aggregator for aggregating a content item with the event, wherein the content item is identified using a query to one or more repositories.

35. A method as in claim 24, wherein the content item is checked for relevance.

36. A method as in claim 35, wherein the content item is checked for relevance by computing a similarity score based on similarity between the content item and a context model of the event.

25. A computer program product for aggregating a content item with an event, the computer program product being embodied in a computer readable storage medium and comprising computer instructions for:

creating an event based on a user-provided content item;

aggregating a content item with the event, wherein the content item is identified using a query to one or more repositories.

26. A method for aggregating a content item with an event, comprising:

creating an event based on a feed-sourced content item;

aggregating a content item with the event, wherein the content item is identified using a query to one or more repositories.

27. A method as in claim 26, further comprising verifying the feed-sourced content item.

28. A method as in claim 26, wherein the query is generated using a context.

29. A method as in claim 28, wherein the query includes a location associated with the context.

30. A method as in claim 28, wherein the query queries geographically relevant sources.

31. A method as in claim 26, wherein one repository of the one or more repositories includes blog entries.

32. A method as in claim 26, wherein one repository of the one or more repositories includes videos.

33. A method as in claim 26, wherein one repository of the one or more repositories includes images.

34. A method as in claim 26, wherein one repository of the one or more repositories includes face images.

37. A method as in claim 26, wherein the similarity comprises one or more of the following:

textual, temporal, or location similarity.

38. A system for aggregating a content item with an event, comprising:

an event creator for creating an event based on a feed-source content item;

a content item aggregator for aggregating a content item with the event, wherein the content item is identified using a query to one or more repositories.

39. A computer program product for aggregating a content item with an event, the computer program product being embodied in a computer readable storage medium and comprising computer instructions for:

creating an event based on a feed-sourced content item;

aggregating a content item with the event, wherein the content item is identified using a query to one or more repositories.
