An endoscopic instrument for removal of material, tissue and the like, comprising a rigid hollow shank (2) and a tool (8) at a distal instrument end, the tool being driven in rotation by a drive shaft (14) guided in the hollow shank (2), wherein the tool projects from the distal end of the hollow shank (2) and may be angled with respect to a distal end of the hollow shank (2).
