1. A tissue implant, comprising:
- an inner layer configured to have a compliance which simulates tissue; and
an outer layer which covers the inner layer and is exposed to native tissue when the implant is implanted into a patient, the outer layer being attached to the inner layer at least a first point on the inner layer and at least a second point on the inner layer, the inner layer configured to elastically compress the outer layer between the first point and the second point when the inner layer is attached to the outer layer, and the inner layer may be stretched up to a limit set by the outer layer.

- 8. A tissue implant, the implant having a first dimension measured between a first reference point on the implant and a second reference point on the implant, the implant comprising a first layer configured to be manipulatable by an external force to enlarge the distance between the first reference point and the second reference point from the first dimension to a second larger dimension, wherein the first layer is biased such that upon removal of the external force, the first layer is configured to recoil such that the distance between the first reference point and the second reference point returns to about the first dimension.
