Abstract

The present invention is directed to a digital broadcast system and a data processing method. A broadcast signal in which mobile service data and main service data are multiplexed is transmitted and received. Then, in a broadcasting receiver, the program table information including information about a service or a program of an ensemble is parsed according to an identifier of the ensemble in which the mobile service data are multiplexed, in the received broadcast signal. And a mobile service is outputted by using the mobile service data and the parsed program table information.

Claims

1. A data processing method comprising:

receiving a broadcast signal in which mobile service data and main service data are multiplexed;

parsing program table information including information about a service or a program of an ensemble according to an identifier of the ensemble in which the mobile service data are multiplexed, in the received broadcast signal; and

outputting the mobile service data by using the parsed program table information.

2. The data processing method according to claim 1, wherein the broadcast signal includes a data group in which the mobile service data error-correction-encoded by at least one of code rates and the main service data are interleaved, and the mobile service data in the interleaved data group includes periodically-inserted known data.

3. The data processing method according to claim 1, wherein the program table information includes at least one of major channel information for the mobile service data, minor channel information for the mobile service data, and information indicating whether service guide information is needed to access a channel of the mobile service data.

4. The data processing method according to claim 1, wherein the program table information includes an internet protocol address for receiving the mobile service data.

5. A digital broadcast system comprising:

a receiver configured to receive a broadcast signal in which mobile service data and main service data are multiplexed;

a program table information decoder configured to parse program table information including information about a service or a program of an ensemble according to an identifier of the ensemble in which the mobile service data are multiplexed, in the received broadcast signal;

a demultiplexer configured to demultiplex the mobile service data contained in the broadcast signal;

a decoder configured to decode the demultiplexed mobile service data; and

an output unit configured to output the decoded mobile service data by using the parsed program table information.

The digital broadcast system according to claim 5, wherein the broadcast signal includes a data group in which the mobile service data error-correction-encoded by at least one of code rates and the main service data are interleaved, and the mobile service data in the interleaved data group includes periodically-inserted known data.

The digital broadcast system according to claim 5, wherein the program table information includes at least one of major channel information for the mobile service data, minor channel information for the mobile service data, and information indicating whether service guide information is needed to access a channel of the mobile service data.

8. The digital broadcast system according to claim 5, wherein the program table information includes an internet protocol address for receiving the mobile service data.

9. A data processing method comprising:

generating program table information, which includes an identifier of an ensemble in which mobile service data are multiplexed and describes the mobile service data;

multiplexing the generated program table information and the mobile service data, multiplexing the multiplexed data and the main service data, and outputting the multiplexed result as broadcast data; and

transmitting the mobile service data by modulating the multiplexed broadcast data.

The data processing method according to claim 9, wherein the broadcast signal includes a data group in which the mobile service data error-correction-encoded by at least one of code rates and the main service data are interleaved, and the mobile service data in the interleaved data group includes periodically-inserted known data.

The data processing method according to claim 9, wherein the program table information includes at least one of major channel information for the mobile service data, minor channel information for the mobile service data, and information indicating whether service guide information is needed to access a channel of the mobile service data.

12. The data processing method according to claim 9, wherein the program table information includes an internet protocol (IP) address for receiving the mobile service data.
