Abstract

Different pieces of Internet content are manually selected during viewing on a screen, the selected pieces are arranged into a single publication, and the publication is sent to print.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

enabling different pieces of Internet content to be manually selected during viewing;

arranging selected pieces into a single publication; and

sending the publication to print.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein enabling the different pieces to be selected includes providing Internet content to a viewer;

allowing the viewer to select the different pieces from the provided content; and

receiving the viewer selections.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein an on-line service provider provides a service for enabling the different pieces to be selected.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the service provider accesses the selected pieces, and stores the selected pieces in a repository.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the repository is filled until it is frozen.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the repository is frozen according to a schedule.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein enabling the different pieces to be selected includes displaying Internet content on a screen;

and storing pieces that are manually selected.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the enabling, selecting and sending are performed by a local application.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the publication is printed on a local printer.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising formatting the publication before the publication is sent to print.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the publication is formatted with pre-defined templates and page masters.

12. The method of claim 1, further comprising enhancing the publication before sending it print.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the enhancing includes re-arranging the selected pieces in a different order

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the enhancing includes using a Publisher Interface.

15. The method of claim 12, wherein the enhancing includes adding additional content to the publication.

16. The method of claim 12, wherein the enhancing includes adding advertising to the publication to subsidize the cost of the publication.

17. The method of claim 12, wherein the enhancing includes using the arranged pieces as common content;

and generating customized instances from the common content.

18. The method of claim 1, wherein sending the publication to print includes selecting a print service provider.

19. Apparatus comprising a processor for causing a computer to perform the method of claim 1.

20. An article comprising memory encoded with data for causing a computer to perform the method of claim 1.

21. A machine comprising:

means for enabling different pieces of Internet content to be manually selected during viewing;

means for arranging selected pieces into a single publication; and

means for sending the publication to print.

22. A system comprising apparatus for enabling different pieces of Internet content to be manually selected during viewing on a screen, arranging selected pieces into a single publication, and sending the publication to print.

23. An article comprising memory encoded with data that causes a processor to enable different pieces of Internet content to be manually selected during viewing on a screen, arrange selected pieces into a single publication, and send the publication to print.
