Abstract

A broadcast receiver and a method of processing data are disclosed. The broadcast receiver includes a broadcasting module, at least one function module, and a controller. The broadcasting module receives and processes mobile broadcast signal. The function module outputs at least one of a video output and an audio output. The controller controls output of at least one of video output and audio output corresponding to each of the broadcasting module and the function module, when a mode shift occurs between the broadcasting module and at least one the function module.

Claims

1. A broadcast receiver, comprising:

a broadcasting module for receiving and processing mobile broadcast signal;

at least one function module for outputting at least one of a video output and an audio output; and

a controller for controlling output of at least one of video output and audio output corresponding to each of the broadcasting module and the function module, when a mode shift occurs between the broadcasting module and at least one the function module.

2. The broadcast receiver of claim 1, wherein the broadcasting module comprises:

a signal receiving unit for receiving broadcast signal multiplexed mobile broadcast service data and main broadcast service data, wherein the mobile broadcast service data configures a RS frame, and wherein the RS frame includes at least one data packet corresponding to the mobile broadcast service data, an RS parity generated based upon the at least one data packet, and a CRC checksum generated based upon the at least one data packet and the RS parity;

a RS frame decoder for performing CRC-decoding and RS-decoding on the RS frame, thereby correcting errors occurred in the corresponding mobile broadcast service data; and

a decoder for extracting at least one of a map information and a traffic information from the error-correction decoded mobile broadcast service data, and outputting the extracted information to a output device.

3. The broadcast receiver of claim 2, further comprising:

a known sequence detector for detecting known data linearly inserted within at least one data group, which configures the RS frame; and

a channel equalizer for channel-equalizing the mobile broadcast service data using the detected known data.

4. The broadcast receiver of claim 2, further comprising:

a transmission parameter detector for detecting transmission parameters inserted in a predetermined position within at least one data group, which configures the RS frame; and

a power controller for controlling power based upon the detected transmission parameters, thereby receiving a data group including requested mobile broadcast service data.

5. The broadcast receiver of claim 2, wherein, when the error-correction decoded mobile broadcast service data correspond to packetized elementary stream (PES)-type data, the decoder performs decoding using any one of an audio decoder and a video decoder.

6. The broadcast receiver of claim 2, wherein, when the error-correction decoded mobile broadcast service data correspond to section-type data, the decoder performs decoding using a data decoder.

7. The broadcast receiver of claim 1, further comprising:

a user input unit inputting a user'"'"'s signal to the controller, the user'"'"'s signal selecting output of at least one of the video output and the audio output.

8. A method of processing data in a broadcast receiver, comprising:

receiving compression encoded mobile broadcast service data, and processing the received mobile broadcast service data;

generating an external event; and

controlling mutually at least one of a video output and an audio output of the mobile broadcast service data and at least one of a video output and an audio output of the external event.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

receiving broadcast signal multiplexed mobile broadcast service data and main broadcast service data, wherein the mobile broadcast service data configures a RS frame, and wherein the RS frame includes at least one data packet corresponding to the mobile broadcast service data, an RS parity generated based upon the at least one data packet, and a CRC checksum generated based upon the at least one data packet and the RS parity;

performing CRC-decoding and RS-decoding on the RS frame, thereby correcting errors occurred in the corresponding mobile broadcast service data; and

extracting at least one of a map information and a traffic information from the error-correction decoded mobile broadcast service data, and outputting the extracted information to a output device.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

detecting transmission parameters inserted in a predetermined position within at least one data group, which configures the RS frame; and

controlling power based upon the detected transmission parameters, thereby receiving a data group including requested mobile broadcast service data.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein known data sequences are lineally inserted in some regions among the plurality of regions within the data group.

12. The method of claim 8, wherein the step of processing mobile broadcast service data, comprises:

performing at least one of carrier recovery and timing recovery using known data information, the known data information having valid data inserted therein and transmitted.

13. The method of claim 8, wherein the step of processing mobile broadcast service data, comprises:

compensating channel distortion included in mobile broadcast service data using known data information, the known data information having valid data inserted therein and transmitted.

14. The method of claim 8, wherein the step of processing mobile broadcast service data, comprises:

performing decoding on the mobile broadcast service data packets in block units.

15. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

inputting a user'"'"'s selection signal, thereby controlling mutually at least one of a video output and an audio output.
