Abstract

A broadcast receiving system capable of receiving mobile broadcast data and a method for processing broadcast signals are disclosed. The broadcast receiving system includes N number of antenna elements, a demodulator, a transmission parameter detector, and a block decoder. The N number of antenna elements receives each of the broadcast signals. The demodulator demodulates the broadcast signal having greater signal strength among each of the received broadcast signals. The transmission parameter detector detects the transmission parameter. The block decoder symbol-decodes the mobile broadcast service data included in the received broadcast signal in block units, based upon the detected transmission parameter.

Claims

1. A broadcast receiving system, comprising:

N number of antenna elements receiving each of the broadcast signals;

a demodulator demodulating the broadcast signal having greater signal strength among each of the received broadcast signals, wherein the broadcast signal includes mobile broadcast service data, wherein the mobile broadcast service data configures a data group, wherein the data group is divided into a plurality of regions, wherein M number of known data sequences are inserted in some regions among the plurality of regions within the data group, and wherein a transmission parameter is inserted between a first known data sequence and a second known data sequence, among the M number of known data sequences;

a transmission parameter detector detecting the transmission parameter; and

a block decoder symbol-decoding the mobile broadcast service data included in the received broadcast signal in block units, based upon the detected transmission parameter.

2. The broadcast receiving system of claim 1, further comprising:

a position information module generating a current position information of the broadcast receiving system; and

a navigation unit performing at least one of travel route search, map matching, and travel route guidance by using the generated current position information and a map information.

3. The broadcast receiving system of claim 1, further comprising:

a known sequence detector detecting known data included in the received broadcast signal; and

a channel equalizer channel-equalizing the received mobile broadcast service data using the detected known data.

4. The broadcast receiving system of claim 1, further comprising:

a RS frame decoder performing CRC-decoding and RS-decoding on the mobile broadcast service data, thereby correcting errors occurred in the mobile broadcast service data.

5. The broadcast receiving system of claim 1, further comprising:

a transmission parameter detector detecting transmission parameters inserted in a predetermined positions within each of the data group; and

a power controller controlling power based upon the detected transmission parameters, thereby receiving a data group including requested mobile broadcast service data.

6. The broadcast receiving system of claim 1, further comprising:

a derandomizer derandomizing the symbol-decoded mobile broadcast service data.

7. A method for processing broadcast signals, comprising:

receiving each of the broadcast signals;

demodulating the broadcast signal having greater signal strength among each of the received broadcast signals, wherein the broadcast signal includes mobile broadcast service data, wherein the mobile broadcast service data configures a data group, wherein the data group is divided into a plurality of regions, wherein M number of known data sequences are inserted in some regions among the plurality of regions within the data group, and wherein a transmission parameter is inserted between a first known data sequence and a second known data sequence, among the M number of known data sequences;

detecting the transmission parameter; and

symbol-decoding the mobile broadcast service data included in the received broadcast signal in block units, based upon the detected transmission parameter.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

generating a current position information of the broadcast receiving system; and

performing at least one of travel route search, map matching, and travel route guidance by using the generated current position information and a map information.

9. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

detecting known data included in the received broadcast signal; and

channel-equalizing the received mobile broadcast service data using the detected known data.

10. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

performing CRC-decoding and RS-decoding on the mobile broadcast service data, thereby correcting errors occurred in the mobile broadcast service data.

11. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

detecting transmission parameters inserted in a predetermined positions within each of the data group; and

controlling power based upon the detected transmission parameters, thereby receiving a data group including requested mobile broadcast service data.

12. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

derandomizing the symbol-decoded mobile broadcast service data.
