Abstract

A broadcast receiving system capable of receiving mobile broadcast data and a method for processing broadcast signals are disclosed. The broadcast receiving system includes a receiving unit, a RS frame decoder, and a memory. The receiving unit receives a broadcast signal including mobile broadcast service data and main broadcast service data. The RS frame decoder performs CRC-decoding and RS-decoding on the RS frame, thereby correcting errors occurred in the corresponding mobile broadcast service data. The memory stores at least one of a traffic information, a POI (point of interesting), and a map information included in the error-corrected mobile broadcast service data.

Claims

1. A broadcast receiving system, comprising:

a receiving unit receiving a broadcast signal including mobile broadcast service data and main broadcast service data, wherein the mobile broadcast service data configures a RS frame, and wherein the RS frame includes at least one data packet corresponding to the mobile broadcast service data, an RS parity generated based upon the at least one data packet, and a CRC checksum generated based upon the at least one data packet and the RS parity;

a RS frame decoder performing CRC-decoding and RS-decoding on the RS frame, thereby correcting errors occurred in the corresponding mobile broadcast service data; and

a memory storing at least one of a traffic information, a POI (point of interesting), and a map information included in the error-corrected mobile broadcast service data.

2. The broadcast receiving system of claim 1, further comprising:

a position information module generating a current position information of the broadcast receiving system; and

a navigation unit performing at least one of travel route search, map matching, and travel route guidance by using the generated current position information and a map information.

3. The broadcast receiving system of claim 1, further comprising:

a display unit displaying a manual mode selection button and an automatic mode selection button, wherein the manual mode selection button controls to be down-loaded manually at least one of the traffic information, the POI, and the map information, wherein the automatic mode selection button controls to be down-loaded automatically at least one of the traffic information, the POI, and the map information.

4. The broadcast receiving system of claim 1, further comprising:

a display unit displaying download progress rate of at least one among the traffic information, the POI, and the map information.

5. The broadcast receiving system of claim 1, further comprising:

a known sequence detector detecting known data linearly inserted within at least one data group, which configures the RS frame; and

a channel equalizer channel-equalizing the mobile broadcast service data using the detected known data.

6. The broadcast receiving system of claim 1, further comprising:

a transmission parameter detector detecting transmission parameters inserted in a predetermined position within at least one data group, which configures the RS frame; and

a power controller controlling power based upon the detected transmission parameters, thereby receiving a data group including requested mobile broadcast service data.

7. The broadcast receiving system of claim 1, further comprising:

a transmission parameter detector detecting transmission parameters inserted in a predetermined position within at least one data group, which configures the RS frame; and

a block decoder symbol-decoding the mobile broadcast service data in block units, based upon the detected transmission parameters.

8. A method for processing broadcast signals, comprising:

receiving a broadcast signal including mobile broadcast service data and main broadcast service data, wherein the mobile broadcast service data configures a RS frame, and wherein the RS frame includes at least one data packet corresponding to the mobile broadcast service data, an RS parity generated based upon the at least one data packet, and a CRC checksum generated based upon the at least one data packet and the RS parity;

performing CRC-decoding and RS-decoding on the RS frame, thereby correcting errors occurred in the corresponding mobile broadcast service data; and

storing at least one of a traffic information, a POI (point of interesting), and a map information included in the error-corrected mobile broadcast service data.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

generating a current position information of the broadcast receiving system; and

performing at least one of travel route search, map matching, and travel route guidance by using the generated current position information and a map information.

10. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

displaying a manual mode selection button and an automatic mode selection button, wherein the manual mode selection button controls to be down-loaded manually at least one of the traffic information, the POI, and the map information, wherein the automatic mode selection button controls to be down-loaded automatically at least one of the traffic information, the POI, and the map information.

11. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

displaying download progress rate of at least one of the traffic information, the POI, and the map information.

12. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

detecting known data linearly inserted within at least one data group, which configures the RS frame; and

channel-equalizing the mobile broadcast service data using the detected known data.

13. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

detecting transmission parameters inserted in a predetermined position within at least one data group, which configures the RS frame; and

controlling power based upon the detected transmission parameters, thereby receiving a data group including requested mobile broadcast service data.

14. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

detecting transmission parameters inserted in a predetermined position within at least one data group, which configures the RS frame; and

symbol-decoding the mobile broadcast service data in block units, based upon the detected transmission parameters.
