Abstract

A system and a method are disclosed for sharing contact information between two mobile phones. A user of a first mobile phone can select contact information stored in the mobile phone to be shared with a second mobile phone while having live phone call with a caller of the second mobile phone. The first mobile phone transmits the contact information to the second mobile phone using a voice channel of the phone call while the phone call is established. For example, the first mobile phone may convert the contact information into an audio signal and send the audio signal to the second mobile phone while the phone call is established. The second mobile phone receives the contact information and provides a user interface such that a caller can call a phone number in the contact information with a single button press.

Claims

1. A method operatable at a first mobile phone to share a phone number with a second mobile phone, comprising:

establishing a phone call with the second mobile phone;

selecting the phone number for transmission to the second mobile phone while the phone call is established; and

transmitting the phone number to the second mobile phone while the phone call is established.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein transmitting the phone number to the second mobile phone further comprises:

converting the phone number into an audio signal; and

transmitting the audio signal to the second mobile phone using a voice channel of the phone call while the phone call is established.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein converting the phone number into the audio signal further comprises converting the phone number into the audio signal using the Dual Tone Multiple Frequencies tones.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein transmitting the phone number to the second mobile phone further comprises:

generating a message containing the phone number; and

transmitting the message to the second mobile phone through a data channel.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the message comprises a Short Message Service (SMS) message or an email message, and wherein transmitting the message to the second mobile phone comprises transmitting the message to the second mobile phone using SMS or an email service.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the phone number is transmitted to the second mobile phone for a user of the second mobile phone to establish a phone call using the phone number with a single button press.

2. The method of 1, wherein selecting the phone number further comprises receiving a user input identifying the phone number.

8. A method operatable at a second mobile phone to receive a phone number from a first mobile phone, comprising:

establishing a phone call with the first mobile phone,

receiving a phone number while the phone call is established;

presenting a user interface with the phone number; and

enabling a switch to dial the present phone number.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein receiving the phone number further comprises:

receiving an audio signal via a voice channel of the phone call while the phone call is established; and

converting the audio signal to the phone number.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the audio signal includes Dual Tone Multiple Frequencies tones of the phone number.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein receiving the phone number further comprises:

receiving a message containing the phone number; and

extracting the phone number from the message.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the message comprises a Short Message Service (SMS) message or an email message, and wherein receiving the message comprises receiving the message using SMS or an email service.

13. The method of claim 8, wherein enabling the switch to dial the present phone number further comprises enabling the switch in the user interface to dial the present phone number with a single button press.

14. The method of claim 8, wherein the user interface further enables storing the phone number with a single button press.

15. A computer readable medium with stored instructions, the instructions when executed by a processor cause the processor to perform a method comprising:

establishing a phone call with a second mobile phone;

selecting the phone number for transmission to the second mobile phone while the phone call is established; and

transmitting the phone number to the second mobile phone while the phone call is established.

16. The computer readable medium of claim 15, wherein the computer readable medium is couple to a radio unit and a processing unit, the processing unit configured to execute the instructions.

17. A computer readable medium with stored instructions, the instructions when executed by a processor cause the processor to perform a method comprising:

establishing a phone call with a first mobile phone,

receiving a phone number while the phone call is established;

presenting a user interface with the phone number; and

enabling a switch to dial the present phone number.

18. The computer readable medium of claim 17, wherein the computer readable medium is couple to a radio unit and a processing unit, the processing unit configured to execute the instructions.
