Abstract

A data entry system using a number of different input signals provided by interacting with input means such as keys wherein to at least some of the different input signals a number of symbols including substantially all of the letters of the alphabet of one language are distributively assigned such that at least two of the letters are ambiguously assigned to at least one of the some input signals. The data entry system includes a database of words and uses a word predictive system such that in order to enter a word of the database the user provides a first input information consisting of providing the input signals corresponding to the characters, generally the letters, of the word, and an additional input information corresponding to at least one of the characters of the word and its corresponding input signal provided through the first input information, and wherein the system precisely recognizes the character among the ambiguous characters assigned to the input signal and provides a word of the dictionary that corresponds to the first and the additional input information.

Claims

1. A data entry system using a number of different input signals provided by interacting with input means wherein to at least some of said different input signals a number of characters including substantially all of the letters of the alphabet of one language are distributively assigned such that at least two of said letters are ambiguously assigned to at least one of said some input signals, and wherein

said data entry system includes a database of words and uses a word predictive system such that in order to enter a word of said database the user provides:

a first input information consisting of providing the input signals corresponding to the characters of said word, and

an additional input information corresponding to at least any of the characters of said word and its corresponding input signal provided through the first input information, and wherein the system precisely recognizes said character among the ambiguous characters assigned to said input signal, and

wherein the system provides a word of the dictionary that corresponds to said first and said additional input information.

2. The data entry system according to claim 1, wherein said at least some of said different input signals are four different input signals.

3. The data entry system according to claim 1, wherein each of said different input signals is provided by a single-pressing action on a different key.

4. The data entry system according to claim 1, wherein each of said different input signals is provided by a single-pressing action on a different key.

5. The data entry system according to claim 1, wherein said at least some of said different input signals are provided through eight keys of a telephone-type keypad.

The data entry system according to claim 1, wherein each of said at least some of said different input signals is provided by a single-pressing action on a corresponding key, and wherein any of the ambiguous letters assigned to said input signal is precisely entered by providing said input signal and providing the additional information corresponding to said letter.

7. The data entry system according to claim 1, wherein said interactions are provided with different zones on a touch sensitive surface, wherein each zone defining a key.

8. The data entry system according to claim 1, wherein said additional input information is one of speaking said character or pressing the key with a predefined finger corresponding to said character

9. The data entry system according to claim 1, wherein said additional input information is other than said input signals to which said characters are assigned.

25. The data entry system according to claim 1, wherein said input means comprises keys.

26. The data entry system according to claim 1, wherein said characters are letters of said word.

The data entry system using a number of different input signals provided by interacting with input means wherein to at least some of said different input signals a number of characters including substantially all of the letters of the alphabet of one language are distributively assigned such that at least two of said letters are ambiguously assigned to at least one of said some input signals, and wherein

said data entry system includes a database of words and uses a word predictive system such that in order to enter a word of said database the user provides:

a first input information for entering precisely at least any character of said word, and

a second input information consisting of providing the input signals corresponding to the other characters of said word, and

wherein the system provides a word of the dictionary that corresponds to said first and said second input information.

11. The data entry system according to claim 10, wherein said at least some of said different input signals are four different input signals.

12. The data entry system according to claim 10, wherein each of said different input signals is provided by a single-pressing action on a different key.

13. The data entry system according to claim 11, wherein each of said different input signals is provided by a single-pressing action on a different key.

14. The data entry system according to claim 10, wherein said first input information permits the system to precisely recognize said character among the ambiguous characters assigned to said input signal.

The data entry system according to claim 10, wherein each of said at least some of said different input signals is provided by a single-pressing action on a corresponding key, and wherein any of the ambiguous letters assigned to said input signal is precisely entered by providing said input signal and providing the additional information corresponding to said letter.

16. The data entry system according to claim 10, wherein a different type of interaction with an input means provides a different input signal.

17. The data entry system according to claim 10, wherein said interactions are provided on different zones on a touch sensitive surface, wherein each zone defining a key.

27. The data entry system according to claim 10, wherein said input means comprises keys.

28. The data entry system according to claim 10, wherein said at least any characters is a letter of said word.

A data entry system using a number of different input signals provided by interacting with input means wherein to at least some of said different input signals a number of symbols including substantially all of the letters of the alphabet of one language are distributively assigned such that at least two of said letters are ambiguously assigned to at least one of said some input signals, and wherein

a symbol assigned to one of said input signals is precisely entered by providing its corresponding input signal and providing the speech information corresponding to said symbol for selecting said symbol among the ambiguous symbols that are assigned to said input signal, and wherein said speech information is detected and analyzed based on at least one of, a user'"'"'s voice and a user'"'"'s lips movements.

19. The data entry system according to claim 18, wherein said data entry system includes a database of words and uses a word predictive system such that in order to enter a word of said database the user provides:

a first input information consisting of providing the input signals corresponding to the characters of said word, and;

an additional input information consisting of providing a speech information corresponding to at least one of the letters of said word, and

wherein the system recognizes said at least one letter and provides a word of the dictionary that corresponds to said first and said additional input information.

20. The data entry system according to claim 18, wherein said at least some of said different input signals are four different input signals.

21. The data entry system according to claim 18, wherein each of said some of said different input signals is provided by a single-pressing action on a different key.

22. The data entry system according to claim 18, wherein letters having ambiguously resembling speech are assigned to different input signals.

23. The data entry system according to claim 19, wherein any of the ambiguous letters is entered by providing its corresponding input signal and speaking the appellation of said letter.

24. The data entry system according to claim 20, wherein said interactions are provided on different zones on a touch sensitive surface, wherein each zone defining a key.

29. The data entry system according to claim 18, wherein said input means comprises keys.
