Abstract

A broadcast receiver and a method of processing data are disclosed. The broadcast receiver includes a signal receiving unit, a transmission parameter detector, a block decoder, a storage unit, and a data manager. The signal receiving unit receives a broadcast signal multiplexed mobile broadcast service data including two-way contents and main broadcast service data. The transmission parameter detector detects the transmission parameter. The block decoder symbol-decodes the received broadcast signal included in the mobile broadcast service data in block units, based upon the detected transmission parameter. The storage unit stores the decoded two-way contents. The data manager reads a requested two-way contents from the stored two-way contents with respect to a user'"'"'s select signal, and provides the requested two-way contents service.

Claims

1. A broadcast receiver, comprising:

a signal receiving for receiving a broadcast signal multiplexed mobile broadcast service data including two-way contents and main broadcast service data, wherein the mobile broadcast service data configures a data group, wherein the data group is divided into a plurality of regions, wherein N number of known data sequences are inserted in some regions among the plurality of regions, and wherein a transmission parameter is inserted between a first known data sequence and a second known data sequence, among the N number of known data sequences;

a transmission parameter detector for detecting the transmission parameter;

a block decoder for symbol-decoding the received broadcast signal included in the mobile broadcast service data in block units, based upon the detected transmission parameter;

a storage unit for storing the decoded two-way contents; and

a data manager for reading a requested two-way contents from the stored two-way contents with respect to a user'"'"'s select signal, and providing the requested two-way contents service.

2. The broadcast receiver of claim 1, further comprising:

a telecommunication module for connecting the broadcast receiver with an external server based upon a control of the data manager, reading the requested two-way contents from the external server with respect to the user'"'"'s select signal, and outputting the read two-way contents to the data manager.

3. The broadcast receiver of claim 1, further comprising:

a position information module for searching and generating a current position information of the broadcast receiver; and

a navigation unit for performing at least one of travel route search, map matching, and travel route guidance by using a map information and the current position information.

4. The broadcast receiver of claim 1, further comprising:

a power controller for controlling power based upon the detected transmission parameters, thereby receiving a data group including requested mobile broadcast service data.

5. The broadcast receiver of claim 1, further comprising:

a known sequence detector for detecting known data inserted in the data group; and

a channel equalizer for channel-equalizing the mobile broadcast service data using the detected known data.

6. The broadcast receiver of claim 1, wherein initialization data are inserted at a beginning portion of each known data sequence, the initialization data being used for initializing a memory included in a trellis encoder of a digital broadcast transmitting system.

The broadcast receiver of claim 1, wherein the data group configures a RS frame, and wherein the RS frame includes at least one data packet corresponding to the mobile broadcast service data, an RS parity generated based upon the at least one data packet, and a CRC checksum generated based upon the at least one data packet and the RS parity.

8. The broadcast receiver of claim 7, further comprising:

a RS frame decoder for performing CRC-decoding and RS-decoding on the RS frame, thereby correcting errors occurred in the corresponding mobile broadcast service data;

9. A method of processing data of a broadcast receiver, comprising:

receiving a broadcast signal multiplexed mobile broadcast service data including two-way contents and main broadcast service data, wherein the mobile broadcast service data configures a data group, wherein the data group is divided into a plurality of regions, wherein N number of known data sequences are inserted in some regions among the plurality of regions, and wherein a transmission parameter is inserted between a first known data sequence and a second known data sequence, among the N number of known data sequences;

detecting the transmission parameter;

symbol-decoding the received broadcast signal included in the mobile broadcast service data in block units, based upon the detected transmission parameter;

storing the decoded two-way contents; and

reading a requested two-way contents from the stored two-way contents with respect to a user'"'"'s select signal, and providing the requested two-way contents service.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

connecting the broadcast receiver with an external server, reading the requested two-way contents from the external server with respect to the user'"'"'s select signal, and providing the requested two-way contents service.

11. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

searching and generating a current position information of the broadcast receiver; and

performing at least one of travel route search, map matching, and travel route guidance by using a map information and the current position information.

12. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

controlling power based upon the detected transmission parameters, thereby receiving a data group including requested mobile broadcast service data.

13. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

detecting known data inserted in the data group; and

channel-equalizing the mobile broadcast service data using the detected known data.

14. The method of claim 9, wherein initialization data are inserted at a beginning portion of each known data sequence, the initialization data being used for initializing a memory included in a trellis encoder of a digital broadcast transmitting system.
