Abstract
A delivery system for providing and deploying a cardiac harness over a heart. The delivery system includes an introducer tube having a plurality of distal fingers biased into a compressed delivery diameter. A dilator tube is slidably mounted within the introducer tube for dilating the fingers into an expanded diameter for deploying a suction cup into secure attachment with the heart. The suction cup is used to manipulate the heart as the cardiac harness is also deployed from the dilator tube over the suction cup, and over the heart. The suction cup is shaped to securely attach to the apex of the heart in one embodiment.

65. A delivery system usable to deploy a cardiac device to the heart in a minimally invasive manner, the cardiac device having at least one electrical lead, the delivery system comprising:
-
an introducer device having a distal end and a proximal end with a plurality of flexible fingers located at a distal end; a bias device configured to apply a bias force that tends to move the fingers inward toward each other into a delivery diameter; a dilator device being movably located within the introducer device and having a distal end configured to be moved into contact with the fingers to provide opposing force against the biasing force to expand the fingers outwardly into an expanded diameter, which is larger than the delivery diameter, the dilator device configured to deploy the cardiac device at its distal end; and a suction device having a tube through which a negative pressure may be communicated to the suction device so that the suction device may be attached to the heart by means of the negative pressure, the tube being located through the dilator device, wherein movement of the tube after the suction device is attached to the heart will permit manipulation of the heart. - View Dependent Claims (66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82)
