Abstract

A program product, a graphical user interface, a computer system including such a graphical user interface and method for replacing a first version of an audio and/or video section having a first length by selecting a second version of an audio and/or video section having a second length are described. Such a method comprises selecting the first version having the first length, displaying a first indication showing that the first version is selected, opening a menu associated with the first version offering at least the second version as an alternative to replace the first version, selecting the second version in the menu to replace the first version and displaying a second indication showing that the second version is selected. The second indication replaces the first indication. Some implementations may facilitate replacing one section or piece of audio or video data by another.

Claims

1. A method for replacing a first version of an audio and/or video section having a first length by selecting a second version of an audio and/or video section having a second length, the method comprising:

displaying a first indication showing the first version on a display device;

displaying a menu associated with the first version offering at least the second version as an alternative to replace the first version;

receiving a selection of the second version in the menu to replace the first version;

displaying a second indication showing that the second version is selected, wherein the second indication replaces the first indication.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the second version having the second length is fitted to the first length of the first version so that the second version is made equal in length to the first length.

The method of claim 2, wherein the second version is looped one or more times or a fraction thereof if the second length is shorter than the first length, and the second version is cut at the end so that its length is equal to the first length if the second length is larger than the first length.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the first version is adaptable in length by looping its content or cutting its length.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of the first and second indication provides a visual indication if at least one of the first and second version is looped.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein a menu is associated with each selected version offering one or more alternatives to the selected versions.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the alternatives have a part of their names in common.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of the first and second indication contains a name of the selected version or a representation indicating the content of the selected version.

9. A program product configured to be executed on a data processing system having a processor and a memory, said program providing for replacing a first version of an audio and/or video section having a first length by a second version of an audio and/or video section having a second length, the program having a program code configured to:

display a first indication showing the first version;

provide a menu associated with the first version offering at least the second version as an alternative to replace the first version;

obtain a selection of the second version in the menu to replace the first version;

display a second indication showing that the second version is selected, wherein the second indication replaces the first indication.

10. The program product of claim 9, wherein the second version having the second length is fitted to the first length of the first version so that the second version is made equal in length to the first length.

11. The program product of claim 10, wherein the second version is looped one or more times or a fraction thereof if the second length is shorter than the first length, and the second version is cut at the end so that its length is equal to the first length if the second length is larger than the first length.

12. The program product of claim 9, wherein the first version is adaptable in length by looping its content or cutting its length.

13. The program product of claim 9, wherein at least one of the first and second indication provides a visual indication if at least one of the first and second version is looped.

14. The program product of claim 9 wherein a menu is associated with each selected version to offer one or more alternatives to the selected versions.

15. The program product of claim 14, wherein the alternatives have a part of their names in common.

16. The program product of claim 9, wherein at least one of the first and second indication contains a name of the selected version or a representation indicating the content of the selected version.

17. A data processing system for enabling a user to replace a first version of an audio and/or video section having a first length by selecting a second version of an audio and/or video section having a second length, comprising:

means adapted to display a first indication showing the first version;

means adapted to provide a menu associated with the first version offering at least the second version as an alternative to replace the first version;

means adapted to obtain a selection of the second version in the menu to replace the first version;

means adapted to display a second indication showing that the second version is selected, wherein the second indication replaces the first indication.

18. The data processing system of claim 17, wherein the second version having the second length is fitted by fitting means to the first length of the first version so that the second version is made equal in length to the first length.

19. The data processing system of claim 18, wherein the fitting means are adapted so that the second version is looped one or more times or a fraction thereof if the second length is shorter than the first length, and that the second version is cut at the end so that its length is equal to the first length if the second length is larger than the first length.

20. The data processing system of claim 17, wherein the first version is adaptable in length by looping its content or cutting its length.

21. The data processing system of claim 17, wherein at least one of the first and second indication provides a visual indication if at least one of the first and second version is looped.

22. The data processing system of claim 17, wherein a menu is associated with each selected version offering one or more alternatives to the selected versions.

23. The data processing system of claim 22, wherein the alternatives have a part of their names in common.

24. The data processing system of claim 17, wherein at least one of the first and second indication contains a name of the selected version or a representation indicating the content of the selected version.
