Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of controlling data transmission for a multimedia/broadcast service (MBS) in a broadband wireless access system. In a data transmission control method for a multicast broadcast service (MBS) in a broadband wireless access system, the present invention includes the steps of receiving information for a downlink burst profile suitable for receiving MBS data from at least one mobile subscriber station, selecting a downlink burst profile suitable for transmitting the MBS data using the information for the downlink burst profile, and transmitting the MBS data to the at least one mobile subscriber station using the selected downlink burst profile.

Claims

1. A method of controlling data transmission for a multicast broadcast service (MBS) in a broadband wireless access system, comprising:

receiving information for a downlink burst profile suitable for receiving MBS data from at least one mobile subscriber station;

selecting a downlink burst profile suitable for transmitting the MBS data using the information for the downlink burst profile; and

transmitting the MBS data to the at least one mobile subscriber station using the selected downlink burst profile.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the information for the downlink burst profile is received by being included in MBS feedback information.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein a most robust burst profile is selected as the downlink burst profile suitable for transmitting the MBS data from the downlink burst profile received from the at least one mobile subscriber station.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the downlink burst profile is information for a coding and modulation scheme.

5. The method of claim 2, wherein the MBS feedback information further includes identification information of the MBS data.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the MBS feedback information further includes a connection identifier (CID) of the MBS data.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the MBS feedback information further includes a configuration change count

(CCC) of a downlink channel descriptor (DCD) defining a burst profile associated with information for a coding and modulation scheme suitable for receiving the MBS data.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of, if the downlink burst profile is changed, transmitting an MBS MAP message associated with the MBS data to the at least one mobile subscriber station.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein if a mobile subscriber station receiving the MBS does not exist within a cell, an MBS MAP message including an indicator that indicates MBS traffic does not exist is transmitted.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the MBS data is not transmitted.

11. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of receiving information for a downlink burst profile from an idle-mode mobile subscriber station having moved into a cell while the MBS is bring provided,

wherein the information for the downlink burst profile received from the idle-mode mobile subscriber station is additionally taken into consideration in selecting the downlink burst profile suitable for transmitting the MBS data.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the MBS feedback information is transmitted via an MBS feedback header.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein the MBS feedback header is transmitted via a contention-based uplink band.

14. The method of claim 12, further comprising the steps of:

allocating an uplink band capable of carrying the MBS feedback header to the at least one mobile subscriber station; and

receiving the MBS feedback header transmitted via the allocated uplink band.

15. The method of claim 12, wherein the MBS feedback header is transmitted via an uplink slot allocated for the MBS feedback header transmission.

16. The method of claim 1, wherein the MBS feedback information is transmitted by being included in a ranging request message.

17. The method of claim 5, wherein the identification information of the MBS data is a block sequence number (BSN) of the MBS data.

18. The method of claim 5, wherein the identification information of the MBS data is a frame number of the MBS data.

19. A method of controlling data transmission for a multicast broadcast service (MBS) in a mobile subscriber station of a broadband wireless access system, comprising:

receiving MBS data transmitted from a base station;

determining whether to change a downlink burst profile by checking a downlink quality carrying the MBS data; and

if attempting to request the change of the downlink burst profile of the received MBS data, transmitting information for a downlink burst profile suitable for receiving the MBS data to the base station from the specific mobile subscriber station.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the information for the downlink burst profile is transmitted by being included in MBS feedback information.

21. The method of claim 19, wherein the downlink burst profile is information for coding and modulation scheme.

22. The method of claim 19, further comprising the step of receiving an MBS MAP message including a changed downlink burst profile associated information from the base station.

26. The method of claim 20, wherein the MBS feedback information is transmitted via an MBS feedback header.

27. The method of claim 26, wherein the MBS feedback header is transmitted via a contention-based uplink band.

28. The method of claim 26, further comprising the steps of:

having an uplink band allocated by the base station to enable the MBS feedback header to be transmitted; and

transmitting the MBS feedback header via the allocated uplink band.

29. The method of claim 26, wherein the MBS feedback header is transmitted via an uplink slot allocated for the MBS feedback header transmission.

30. The method of claim 20, wherein the MBS feedback information is transmitted by being included in a ranging request message.

33. The method of claim 19, wherein the mobile subscriber station is in an idle mode.

34. The method of claim 33, further comprising the step of acquiring an uplink transmission synchronization.

23. The method of claim 23, wherein the MBS feedback information further includes identification information of the MBS data.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein the MBS feedback information further includes a connection identifier (CID) of the MBS data.

25. The method of claim 24, wherein the MBS feedback information further includes a configuration change count (CCC) of a downlink channel descriptor (DCD) defining a burst profile associated with information for coding and modulation scheme suitable for receiving the MBS data.

31. The method of claim 23, wherein the identification information of the MBS data is a block sequence number (BSN) of the MBS data.

32. The method of claim 23, wherein the identification information of the MBS data is a frame number of the MBS data.
