Abstract

A method and system for facilitating targeted mobile advertisement, the system having: a mobile device having: a communication subsystem adapted to send and receive data; at least one application adapted to consume data, create data or consume and create data; a scan engine registered with the at least one application, the scan engine adapted to scan data consumed or created by the application, the scan engine further adapted to provide an ad trigger alert; and a configuration module within the scan module the configuration module adapted to store keywords, rules or keywords and rules; a mobile advertising server, the mobile advertising server adapted to receive ad trigger alerts from the scan engine; and an advertising content provider, the advertising content provider registering with the mobile advertising server and providing advertising content, wherein, the configuration module is adapted to dynamically be configured based on the information from advertising content provider.

Claims

1. A system for facilitating targeted mobile advertisement comprising:

a mobile device having;

a communication subsystem adapted to send and receive data;

at least one application adapted to consume data, create data or consume and create data;

a scan engine registered with the at least one application, the scan engine adapted to scan data consumed or created by the application, the scan engine further adapted to provide an ad trigger alert; and

a configuration module within said scan module said configuration module adapted to store keywords, rules or keywords and rules;

a mobile advertising server, said mobile advertising server adapted to receive ad trigger alerts from the scan engine; and

an advertising content provider, said advertising content provider registering with the mobile advertising server and providing advertising content,

wherein, the configuration module is adapted to dynamically be configured based on the information from advertising content provider.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the scan engine receives the keywords, rules or both keywords and rules from the mobile advertising server.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the ad trigger alert is created based on the keywords, rules or both keywords and rules.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein the scan engine comprises a collection module to collect results of the scanning of the data consumed or created by the application.

5. The system of claim 2, wherein the scan engine creates a user interests profile based on the scanning of the data consumed or created by the application.

The system of claim 5, wherein the configuration module is adapted to receive configuration data updates to update the keywords, rules or both keywords and rules, said update to the keywords, rules or both keywords and rules based on the information provided by a new advertising content provider registering with the mobile advertising server.

The system of claim 5, wherein the configuration module is adapted to receive configuration data updates to update the keywords, rules or both keywords and rules, said update to the keywords, rules or both keywords and rules created by an existing advertising content provider forwarding new content to the mobile advertisement server.

8. The system of claim 6, wherein the configuration data updates are periodic.

9. The system of claim 6, wherein the configuration updates are received upon registration or deregistration of an advertising content provider.

10. A system for facilitating targeted mobile advertisement comprising:

a mobile device having;

a communication subsystem adapted to send and receive data; and

at least one application adapted to consume data, create data or consume and create data;

a proxy server having;

a scan engine registered with the at least one application, the scan engine adapted to scan data consumed or created by the application, the scan engine further adapted to provide an ad trigger alert; and

a configuration module within said scan module said configuration module adapted to store keywords, rules or keywords and rules;

a mobile advertising server, said mobile advertising server adapted to receive ad trigger alerts from the scan engine; and

an advertising content provider, said advertising content provider registering with the mobile advertising server and providing advertising content,

wherein, the configuration module is adapted to dynamically be configured based on the advertising content provider.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the scan engine receives the keywords, rules or both keywords and rules from the mobile advertising server.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the ad trigger alert is created based on the keywords, rules or both keywords and rules.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the scan engine comprises a collection module to collect results of the scanning of the data consumed or created by the application.

14. The system of claim 11, wherein the scan engine creates a user interests profile based on the scanning of the data consumed or created by the application.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the configuration module is adapted to receive configuration data updates to update the keywords, rules or both keywords and rules, said update to the keywords, rules or both keywords and rules created by a new advertising content provider registering with the mobile advertising server.

16. The system of claim 14, wherein the configuration module is adapted to receive configuration data updates to update the keywords, rules or both keywords and rules, said update to the keywords, rules or both keywords and rules created by an existing advertising content provider forwarding new content to the mobile advertisement server.

17. The system of claim 15, wherein the configuration data updates are periodic.

18. The system of claim 15, wherein the configuration updates are received upon registration or deregistration of an advertising content provider.

19. A method for dynamically updating configuration data for targeted mobile advertising, the method comprising the steps of:

storing configuration data at a scan engine;

receiving a configuration data update from a mobile advertising server; and

updating the stored configuration data based on the received configuration update.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the scan engine is located on one of a mobile device and a proxy server.

21. The method of claim 19, wherein the configuration data update is caused by an advertising content provider registering or deregistering with a mobile advertising server.

22. The method of claim 19, wherein the configuration data update is caused by an advertising content provider updating available advertising content.

23. The method of claim 19, wherein the updating is periodic.

24. The method of claim 19, wherein the configuration data comprises keywords, rules or keywords and rules.
