Abstract

An apparatus for processing a signal and method thereof are disclosed. Data coding and entropy coding are performed with interconnection, and grouping is used to enhance coding efficiency. The present invention includes the steps of obtaining index information and entropy-decoding the index information and identifying a content corresponding to the entropy-decoded index information and selecting entropy table.

Claims

1. A method of processing a signal, comprising the steps of:

obtaining index information from the signal;

entropy-decoding the index information; and

identifying content corresponding to the entropy-decoded index information.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the index information is information for a plurality of indexes having characteristics of frequency of use with probability.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the index information is entropy-decoded using an index dedicated entropy table.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the content is classified according to a data type.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the content is used for decoding of data.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the content is grouping information for grouping of a plurality of data.

7. The method of claim 5, wherein the data is a parameter and the method further comprises the step of reconstructing an audio signal using the parameter.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the content is table information indicating an entropy table used in entropy-decoding the parameter.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the table information is an index of the entropy table.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the index of the entropy table is a largest absolute value (LAV) among indexes included in the entropy table.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein the entropy table is used in performing two-dimensional entropy decoding on the parameter.

12. The method of claim 2, wherein the index information includes an index having a probability that is higher than the other indexes.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein the index information includes an index that differs according to a combination of a data coding scheme and an entropy coding scheme.

14. An apparatus for processing a signal, comprising:

an information obtaining part configurable for obtaining index information from the signal;

a decoding part configurable for entropy-decoding the index information; and

an identifying part configurable for identifying a content corresponding to the entropy-decoded index information.

15. A method of processing a signal, comprising:

generating index information to identify content; and

entropy-encoding the index information; and

transferring the entropy-encoded index information.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the content is table information indicating an entropy table used in entropy-decoding data.

17. An apparatus for processing a signal, comprising:

an information generating part configurable for generating index information to identify content associated with a signal; and

an encoding part configurable for entropy-encoding the index information; and

an information outputting part configurable for transferring the entropy-encoded index information.
