MID-ZONE STAPLER or PRESSING TOOL
First Claim
1. A manually powered, sheet modifying pressing tool comprising:
- a base further comprising a mid-base and a platform;
an operative assembly further comprising an output means adapted to exert force on an object;
said operative assembly further comprising first and second ends;
said base pivotally securing to said operative assembly proximate said second end and said output means positioned proximate said first end;
an arm having a distal end, a proximal end, and a mid-arm positioned between said distal end and said the proximal end;
a first coupling providing contact between said mid-arm and said operative assembly;
a second coupling providing contact between said proximal end and said mid-base;
wherein a first end input utilizing said first coupling produces an operative assembly output;
said first end input being a single y-axis input;
said operative assembly output being a single y-axis output; and
wherein said mid-base extending between 15 percent and 99 percent of said stapler assembly length, measured from said second end towards said first end when said stapling assembly is in a ready position.

Abstract
The mid-zone pressing tool has a base and a pressing assembly, which are pivotally connected at the rear by a transverse shaft. A pair of cantilevers extends forward from each side of an uppermost rear portion of the base. A pair of arms is connected on the distal ends by a common handle. A first coupling connects a middle portion of each arm to the pressing assembly by an axle, cam or link. A second coupling connects the proximal ends of each arm to the cantilever by an axle, cam or link. Pushing the handle down pivots the arms, engages the couplings, and transmits a concentrated downward force to the front of the pressing assembly. The cantilevers allow a range of coupling placements, including near the middle of the pressing tool. The couplings are optionally releasable.

20. An insert for a manually powered pressing tool with an arm, the insert comprising:
-
a top and a bottom with a separation between them; at least one ridge extending away from top surface of said top; a clearance void; said void proximate to the transverse center of said insert; and said ridge or ridges laterally distal to said clearance void; wherein the arm pushing on said ridge moves said top and said bottom together, closing said separation, with said top and said bottom contacting each other. - View Dependent Claims (21, 22, 23)
