Abstract

An image display device includes: a storage means for storing a plurality of items of image data; a first classifying means for classifying the plurality of the items of image data in a first predetermined unit; a second classifying means for breaking the plurality of the items of image data classified by the first classifying means into smaller groups in a second predetermined unit; a display control means for controlling display in such a way that images are displayed in the second predetermined unit based on the image data broken into smaller groups by the second classifying means; and a display means for performing a predetermined display based on the control performed by the display control means.

Claims

1. An image display device comprising:

a storage means for storing a plurality of items of image data;

a first classifying means for classifying the plurality of the items of image data in a first predetermined unit;

a second classifying means for breaking the plurality of the items of image data classified by the first classifying means into smaller groups in a second predetermined unit;

a display control means for controlling display in such a way that images are displayed in the second predetermined unit based on the image data broken into smaller groups by the second classifying means; and

a display means for performing a predetermined display based on the control performed by the display control means.

2. An image display device comprising:

a storage means for storing a plurality of items of image data;

an event clustering means for grouping a group of image data taken on close dates and times into an event in the plurality of the items of image data;

a scene change detecting means for detecting a timing of a scene change;

a subevent clustering means for grouping a group of image data classified by the first classifying means and contained in an event into a subevent broken into a smaller group based on the timing of a scene change detected by the scene change detecting means;

a display control means for controlling display in such a way that images are displayed in units of subevents broken into smaller groups by the subevent clustering means; and

a display means for performing a predetermined display based on the control performed by the display control means.

3. The image display device according to claim 2,

wherein when the display control means controls display in such a way that images are displayed in the units of the subevents, the display control means controls display in such a way that images grouped into the subevent are arranged on a single page or a plurality of pages.

4. The image display device according to claim 2,

wherein the display control means first displays events by a list,

when a desired event is selected from the list, the display control means displays images in the units of the subevents that the selected event is broken into smaller groups, and

when one image is selected from the displayed images, the display control means displays only that image.

5. The image display device according to claim 2,

wherein the storage means stores therein image data, and attribute information indicating an event and a subevent to which the image data belongs together with the image data.

6. The image display device according to claim 2,

wherein the scene change detecting means detects a scene change based on any one of criteria whether an interval between times of day of taking images exceeds a predetermined interval, whether a shooting mode is changed, and whether a distance to a subject is changed to a predetermined distance or longer.

7. An image display control method comprising the steps of:

storing a plurality of items of image data;

grouping a group of image data taken on close dates and times into an event in the plurality of the items of image data;

detecting a timing of a scene change;

grouping a group of image data contained in the event into a subevent broken into a smaller group based on the timing of a scene change; and

controlling display in such a way that images are displayed in the units of the subevents.

8. A program which allows a computer to provide:

an event clustering function of grouping a group of image data taken on close dates and times into an event in the plurality of the items of image data;

a scene change detecting function of detecting a timing of a scene change;

a subevent clustering function of grouping a group of image data classified by the subevent clustering function and contained in an event into a subevent broken into a smaller group based on the timing of a scene change detected by the scene change detecting function; and

a display control function of controlling display in such a way that images are displayed in units of subevents broken into smaller groups by the subevent clustering function.

9. An image display device comprising:

a storage unit configured to store a plurality of items of image data;

a first classifying unit configured to classify the plurality of the items of image data in a first predetermined unit;

a second classifying unit configured to break the plurality of the items of image data classified by the first classifying unit into smaller groups in a second predetermined unit;

a display control unit configured to control display in such a way that images are displayed in the second predetermined unit based on the image data broken into smaller groups by the second classifying unit; and

a display unit configured to perform a predetermined display based on the control performed by the display control unit.

10. An image display device comprising:

a storage unit configured to store a plurality of items of image data;

an event clustering unit configured to group a group of image data taken on close dates and times into an event in the plurality of the items of image data;

a scene change detecting unit configured to detect a timing of a scene change;

a subevent clustering unit configured to group a group of image data classified by the first classifying unit and contained in an event into a subevent broken into a smaller group based on the timing of a scene change detected by the scene change detecting unit;

a display control unit configured to control display in such a way that images are displayed in units of subevents broken into smaller groups by the subevent clustering unit; and

a display unit configured to perform a predetermined display based on the control performed by the display control unit.
