Abstract

The claimed subject matter provides a system and/or method that creates, manages, or maintains multiple device versions in a network of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) devices. The system can include components that detect whether a device has joined the network and based at least in part on such indication creates a device profile the first time that the device is detected, establishes a version trail containing configuration settings specific to the detected device, and thereafter builds and maintains the version trail when the device joins and/or leaves the network.

Claims

1. A machine implemented system that creates, manages, or maintains Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device versions in a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) network, comprising:

a component that receives from an interface indication of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device joining or leaving the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) network, based at least in part on the indication the component creates a device profile or establishes a version trail.

2. The system of claim 1, the indication includes parameters specific to the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device

3. The system of claim 1, the version trail persisted permanently to storage media.

4. The system of claim 1, the component employs the indication as a time-sequence event to establish a check point.

5. The system of claim 1, the version trail employed to generate an audit trail that illustrates all parameter changes made to the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device during its existence in the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) network.

6. The system of claim 1, the version trail utilized to generate differences between one or more versions associated with the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device.

7. The system of claim 6, the differences presented as highlighted fields in a side-by-side comparison of the one or more versions associated with the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device.

8. The system of claim 6, the differences displayed as color-coded fields in a side-by-side comparison of the one or more versions associated with the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device.

9. The system of claim 1, the component employs the joining as a time-sequence event to establish a check point

10. The system of claim 1, the component utilizes the leaving as a time-sequence event to establish a check point.

11. The system of claim 10, the check point utilized to create a version instance in the version trail, the version instance provides an aggregation of changes occurring between a previous check point and the check point.

12. The system of claim 1, selected parameters included in the version trail applied to the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device, the selected parameters modify configuration parameters extant on the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device.

13. The system of claim 1, the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device associated with a plurality of antennae, each antenna associated with a unique version trail

14. A method implemented on a machine that creates, manages, or maintains Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device versions in a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) network, comprising:

acquiring indication of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device existence on the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) network;

creating a device profile based at least in part on the indication; and

utilizing the indication to generate or update a version trail.

15. The method of claim 14, the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device existence dynamically determined when the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device exits or joins the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) network.

16. The method of claim 14, the version trail persisted in a store maintained by a database management feature.

17. The method of claim 14, the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device includes one or more antenna, a change to the one or more antenna causes the version trail associated with the one or more antenna to be updated.

18. The method of claim 14, the version trail includes selected parametric changes to configuration settings associated with the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device.

19. The method of claim 18, the selected parametric changes included in the version trail employed to automatically overwrite selected configuration settings associated with the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device when the device exits or re-joins the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) network

20. A system that creates or maintains a version trail associated with a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device, comprising:

means for determining a device presence on a network including Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) devices;

means for generating or updating a persistent audit trail associated with the device presence; and

means for generating a device profile for the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) device on a first appearance of the device on the network.
