Abstract

A digital broadcasting system and a method of processing data are disclosed, which are robust to error when mobile service data are transmitted. To this end, additional encoding is performed for the mobile service data, whereby it is possible to strongly cope with fast channel change while giving robustness to the mobile service data.

Claims

1. A receiving system comprising:

a signal receiving unit for receiving a broadcasting signal including RS frame and main service data, the RS frame consisting of a plurality of MPH service data packets, each of which includes MPH header of M bytes including identification information and payload of N-M bytes;

a demodulating unit for demodulating data of the RS frame of the broadcasting signal received in the signal receiving unit;

a demultiplexer for identifying an MPH service data packet including IP datagram of mobile service data with reference to MPH header of each MPH service data packet within the RS frame demodulated by the demodulating unit, and outputting IP datagram of the mobile service data from payload within the identified MPH service data packet; and

an IP data processor for outputting audio/video data for audio/video decoding if the IP datagram of the mobile service data output from the demultiplexer is the audio/video data.

The receiving system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the demodulating unit detects known data, which are known by agreement between a transmitter and a receiver, from the broadcasting signal received in the signal receiving unit, so that the known data are used for data demodulation and channel equalization of the RS frame.

3. The receiving system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the demodulating unit includes:

a demodulator for converting data of the RS frame of the broadcasting signal received in the signal receiving unit, into base band RS frame data;

an equalizer for channel-equalizing the data demodulated by the demodulator;

a decoder for performing turbo decoding for the data equalized by the equalizer in a block unit; and

an error corrector for correcting an error occurring in the data decoded by the decoder.

The receiving system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the broadcasting signal received in the signal receiving unit is a signal obtained by multiplexing at least one parade with main service data in a unit of an MPH frame consisting of a plurality of sub-frames, each parade including one or two RS frames.

5. The receiving system as claimed in claim 4, wherein, if each parade consists of one RS frame, data of the RS frame are allocated to at least some region of a plurality of data groups consisting of a plurality of regions.

6. The receiving system as claimed in claim 4, wherein, if each parade consists of two RS frames, data of one RS frame are allocated to at least some region of a plurality of data groups consisting of a plurality of regions, and data of the other RS frame are allocated to the other regions.

7. The receiving system as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a power controller for turning on the power in only a slot where data groups of parade including a mobile service selected by a user are allocated if a plurality of parades are multiplexed in the unit of MPH frame.

The receiving system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the MPH header includes at least one of data type information identifying whether data received in payload within a corresponding MPH service data packet is IP datagram of mobile service data, error indication information indicating whether the corresponding MPH service data packet has an error, and pointer field information representing position information where new data starts at the corresponding MPH service data packet.

9. A method of processing data in a receiving system, the method comprising:

receiving a broadcasting signal including RS frame and main service data, the RS frame consisting of a plurality of MPH service data packets, each of which includes MPH header of M bytes including identification information and payload of N-M bytes;

demodulating data of the RS frame of the received broadcasting signal;

identifying an MPH service data packet including IP datagram of mobile service data with reference to MPH header of each MPH service data packet within the demodulated RS frame, and extracting IP datagram of the mobile service data from payload within the identified MPH service data packet; and

outputting audio/video data for audio/video decoding if the extracted IP datagram of the mobile service data is the audio/video data.

The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the demodulating step includes detecting known data, which are known by agreement between a transmitter and a receiver, from the received broadcasting signal, so that the known data are used for data demodulation and channel equalization of the RS frame.

11. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the demodulating step includes:

converting data of the RS frame of the received broadcasting signal into base band RS frame data;

channel equalizing the demodulated data;

performing turbo decoding for the channel equalized data in a block unit; and

correcting an error occurring in the decoded data.

12. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the received broadcasting signal is a signal obtained by multiplexing at least one parade with main service data in a unit of an MPH frame consisting of a plurality of sub-frames, each parade including one or two RS frames.

13. The method as claimed in claim 12, wherein, if a plurality of parades are multiplexed in the unit of MPH frame, the demodulating step further includes turning on the power in only a slot where data groups of parade including a mobile service selected by a user are allocated.

14. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the MPH header includes data type information identifying whether data received in payload within a corresponding MPH service data packet is IP datagram of mobile service data.

The method as claimed in claim 14, wherein the MPH header includes at least one of error indication information indicating whether the corresponding MPH service data packet has an error, and pointer field information representing position information where new data starts at the corresponding MPH service data packet.
