The keypad includes a number of keys each associated with a respective command configured to command the portable electronic device to perform a corresponding function. The orientation sensor is configured to detect an orientation of the portable electronic device. The processor is configured to reorient the keys so that the keypad is friendly to a user in the detected orientation of the portable electronic device.
