Abstract

A broadcast receiver and a method of processing data are disclosed. The broadcast receiver includes a signal receiving unit, a position information module, and a navigation unit. The signal receiving unit receives broadcast signal multiplexed mobile broadcast service data including traffic information and main broadcast service data. The position information module searches and generates a current position information of the broadcast receiver. The navigation unit assigns a weight to each link of a route to a destination based on the current position information received and the traffic information included in the mobile broadcast service data and searches for a bypass route based on the weighted link, and then performs route guidance using at least one of current route and the bypass route.

Claims

1. A broadcast receiver, comprising:

a signal receiving unit for receiving broadcast signal multiplexed mobile broadcast service data including traffic information and main broadcast service data, wherein the mobile broadcast service data configures a RS frame, and wherein the RS frame includes at least one data packet corresponding to the mobile broadcast service data, an RS parity generated based upon the at least one data packet, and a CRC checksum generated based upon the at least one data packet and the RS parity;

a position information module for searching and generating a current position information of the broadcast receiver; and

a navigation unit for assigning a weight to each link of a route to a destination based on the current position information received and the traffic information included in the mobile broadcast service data and searching for a bypass route based on the weighted link, and then performing route guidance using at least one of current route and the bypass route.

2. The broadcast receiver of claim 1, further comprising:

a RS frame decoder for performing CRC-decoding and RS-decoding on the RS frame, thereby correcting errors occurred in the corresponding mobile broadcast service data.

3. The broadcast receiver of claim 1, further comprising:

a known sequence detector for detecting known data linearly inserted within at least one data group, which configures the RS frame; and

a channel equalizer for channel-equalizing the mobile broadcast service data using the detected known data.

4. The broadcast receiver of claim 1, further comprising:

a transmission parameter detector for detecting transmission parameters inserted in a predetermined position within at least one data group, which configures the RS frame; and

a power controller for controlling power based upon the detected transmission parameters, thereby receiving a data group including requested mobile broadcast service data.

5. The broadcast receiver of claim 1, further comprising:

a transmission parameter detector for detecting transmission parameters inserted in a predetermined position within at least one data group, which configures the RS frame; and

a block decoder for symbol-decoding the mobile broadcast service data in block units, based upon the detected transmission parameter.

6. The broadcast receiver of claim 1, further comprising:

a plurality of signal receiving units, each including an antenna and a tuner; and

a comparison/selection unit for comparing a receive sensitivity of the broadcast signals received from the plurality of signal receiving units, and selecting any one of the plurality of signal receiving units according to the comparison result, thereby outputting continuously traffic information.

7. A method of processing data in a broadcast receiver, comprising:

receiving broadcast signal multiplexed mobile broadcast service data including traffic information and main broadcast service data, wherein the mobile broadcast service data configures a RS frame, and wherein the RS frame includes at least one data packet corresponding to the mobile broadcast service data, an RS parity generated based upon the at least one data packet, and a CRC checksum generated based upon the at least one data packet and the RS parity;

searching and generating a current position information of the broadcast receiver; and

assigning a weight to each link of a route to a destination based on the current position information received and the traffic information included in the mobile broadcast service data and searching for a bypass route based on the weighted link, and then performing route guidance using at least one of current route and the bypass route.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

performing CRC-decoding and RS-decoding on the RS frame, thereby correcting errors occurred in the corresponding mobile broadcast service data.

9. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

detecting known data linearly inserted within at least one data group configuring the RS frame, which configures the RS frame; and

channel-equalizing the mobile broadcast service data using the detected known data.

10. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

detecting transmission parameters inserted in a predetermined position within at least one data group, which configures the RS frame; and

controlling power based upon the detected transmission parameters, thereby receiving a data group including requested mobile broadcast service data.

11. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

symbol-decoding the mobile broadcast service data in block units, based upon the detected transmission parameter.

12. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

selecting any one of a plurality of signal receiving units according to receive sensitivity of broadcast signals being received, thereby outputting continuously traffic information.

13. The method of claim 7, wherein the step of performing route guidance includes displaying guidance information of the bypass route and current route, and performing route guidance using a route selected from among the bypass route and the current route by a user.
