Abstract

A computer-implemented method includes determining an attribute of a web page to be displayed to a user at a location, selecting content corresponding to the determined web page attribute, and transmitting the selected content to the location for display as at least part of the web page.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

determining an attribute of a web page to be displayed to a user at a location;

selecting content corresponding to the determined web page attribute; and

transmitting the selected content to the location for display as at least part of the web page.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein, based on the attribute, the web page is one of a home page or a login page of a web site.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the determining, selecting, and transmitting are in response to receiving a request to display content from the user.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising determining the attribute of the web page based on at least one of an identifier pointing to a location of the web page, web page content, and information provided by a publisher of the web page.

5. The method of claim 6 further wherein determining the attribute of the web page based on the information provided by a publisher of the web page comprises monitoring a number of requests to view the web page to establish a quality level for the web page.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising receiving the content from a source, wherein the source specifies corresponding attributes of web pages to which the content can be included.

7. The method of claim 1 further comprising displaying the web page with the selected content on a device at a network location.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein the content includes one or more advertisements.

9. A system comprising an engine including:

an attribute detection system configured to determine an attribute of a web page to be displayed to a user at a location; and

a database configured to store content, wherein the engine is configured to;

select content from the database corresponding to the determined web page attribute, and

transmit the selected content to the location for display as at least part of the web page.

10. The system of claim 9 wherein, based on the attribute, the web page is one of a home page or a login page of a web site.

11. The system of claim 9 wherein the engine is configured to select and transmit in response to receiving a request to display content from the user.

12. The system of claim 9 wherein the attribute detection system is further configured to determine the attribute of the web page based on at least one of an identifier pointing to a location of the web page, web page content, and information provided by a publisher of the web page.

13. The system of claim 12 wherein the engine is further configured to monitor a number of requests to view the web page to establish a quality level for the web page.

14. The system of claim 9 further comprising a source from which the content is received, wherein the source specifies corresponding attributes of web pages to which the content can be included.

15. The system of claim 9 wherein the engine is further configured to display the web page with the selected content on a device at a network location.

16. The system of claim 9 wherein the content includes one or more advertisements.

17. A system comprising:

means for determining an attribute of a web page to be displayed to a user at a location;

means for selecting content corresponding to the determined web page attribute; and

means for transmitting the selected content to the location for display as at least part of the web page.

18. The system of claim 17 wherein, based on the attribute, the web page is one of a web page or a login page of a web site.

19. The system of claim 17 wherein the determining, selecting, and transmitting are in response to receiving a request to display content from the user.

20. The system of claim 17 wherein the means for determining is further configured to determine the attribute of the web page based on at least one of an identifier pointing to a location of the web page, web page content, and information provided by a publisher of the web page.

21. The system of claim 20 further configured to monitor a number of requests to view the web page to establish a quality level for the web page.

22. The system of claim 17 further configured to receive the content from a source, wherein the source specifies corresponding attributes of web pages to which the content can be included.

23. The system of claim 17 further configured to display the web page with the selected content on a device at a network location.

24. The system of claim 17 wherein the content includes one or more advertisements.
