A heat exchanger (1) for an energy storage device (3) consisting of at least one energy storage cell (2), wherein said heat exchanger is connected to at least one energy storage cell (2) of the energy storage device (3) in a heat-conducting manner, wherein the energy storage device (3) is enclosed by a housing (4) and wherein the energy storage cells (2) comprise at least one safety pressure release valve (5) for the release of gases to the outer environmentcharacterized in that the heat exchanger (1) forms at least partially at least one housing side and the heat exchanger (1) has holes (6), that serve to connect the safety pressure release valves (5) of the energy storage cells (2) with the housing environment.
